Yeah - agree on that. Maybe 1-2 tests in a season can be given to other centers (usually smaller ones)

ithippo vallathe kand diversify cheythu - Dharamsala okke test ground with barely 25k capacity

The second one was genuine mistake on SRT's side to review but it was worth a tactical review. The dismissal u are talking about - it was given not out, and it was Jayawardena who reviewed and got it overturned.

As for just one example how India got screwed by the umpire - please watch the below video: Nalla plumb lbw aayirunnu - look at Tendulkar's reaction.

Of course, once bitten twice shy. India had valid reason to be peeved at half hearted implementation of DRS so they were sceptical about it. But over time it changed - 2011 WC I think was a watershed where SRT himself benefited from DRS that actually was a gamechanger in that semifinal against Pakistan.

See Tendulkar's latest stance on DRS :

ok my bad...lankans reviewed it, fine and got the correct decision but his reaction for that right decision was worth savoring!

And why can't we have a proper annual home season is also puzzling...like when we are in November we automatically know Aus home season is around the corner and that along with traditional test matches like Boxing day and New year....why can't we have something like that..? I see the new management is making the right noises about it...nadannaal kollaam...

The biggest difference being that 2011 WC used a reasonably trusted version of hawkeye including ball tracking and predicted path, while 2008 didn't have predicted path at all, and not even snicko or hotspot. So essentially 2008 UDRS was just "you scratch my back, I scratch yours" between the on-field and third umpires.

India and especially SRT was well justified to be peeved at such a half baked UDRS and they rightly revolted against it. But I do agree post 2011 India's stance was pretty much based on BCCI's ego rather than ground reality. Glad that with the regime change, saner heads have prevailed and DRS is here to stay.

We definitely do have a home season - in terms of test matches it runs from October through March. I don't recollect many series played outside of this window.

But yeah over time, especially in the 90s, the focus shifted from tests to ODIs and we started playing home ODIs like a rash through out the year. This sort of diluted the 'home season' concept.

Yes, India should have its own marquee test matches - like Pongal test at Chennai or a Diwali test at Mumbai. But one thing is that in the last 5-6 years, BCCI has started giving tests some importance and respect.

Probably because international media skewed it that way, to make BCCI the sort of villain against the saintly UDRS concept (England and Aus were vehemently backing DRS remember).. even websites like cricinfo were pretty biased in their coverage of that series. That is why I put video evidence - so that one can see what happened actually.

I am not denying that India had it's share of bad reviews - but then again, those cannot be regarded as 100% pathetic given that they were turned down by a half-baked DRS. The umpires in that series were Mark Benson, Rudi Koertzen and Billy Doctrove remember! and they took turns between themselves as on-field and third umpire in that. 2008 UDRS never took away anything from the umpires - it merely made them share a few decisions between themselves. But the media conveniently ignored this aspect, and made it all about India's inefficiency and moaning about DRS.

But the current DRS evaluates decisions independently and using software - and does not rely on human judgement at all (barring extremely narrow ones which go by umpire's call).
