Are ensemble casts the future?? (Aviyals aka multistarrers)
First came the much hyped (and indeed one which managed to live upto it) Twenty20 starring almost all the major stars in Malayalam cinema. It went on to rewrite Box Office history....
Since then we are seeing a glut of such stars-packed movies making a reentry into malayalam cinema, since I think the days of the Somans, the Jayans, the Madhus etc. There was Sreeni - Dileep combo in Passenger Now, there is Kerala Cafe starring Mammootty, Prthviraj, Dileep, Sureshgopi, Sreeni Followed by Janakan starring Suresh Gopy and Mohanlal Then Christian Bros starring Mohanlal, Dileep, Sgopi, Arjun is coming, There is Pokkiriraja starring Prthviraj and Mammootty After that Cousins starring Lal and Prthvi...  Ithindeyokke purame, multi-bhasha starrers vere : Like Pazhassiraja which had Mammooty and Sarathkumar like UPO which had Kamal Hassan and Mohanlal like Vandematharam which had Mammootty and Arjun  Does this trend point to a new welcome trend in malayalam cinema where stars are ready to put aside their egoes and come together as one under a good script and director? Or is it a worrying trend that malayalam cinema is at such a crisis that one actor alone cannot command a huge BO success on his own, and hence are trying to utilise the synergy from having different fan bases?? Pls pour in your thoughts
