Meet Celebrities on Twitter

I assume you have heard about Mammootty revamping his official website. In the process he also joined the latest web 2.0 microblogging platform, Twitter. Now you can follow updates from Mammootty and also send him public or private messages. This twitter profile has been confirmed by Mammootty in his official site. So this is real and I should warn you there are lots of fake celebrities out there.

Another celebrity I know who is in twitter for real is Mallika Sherawat, whose account has been personally verified by Twitter. And Mallika tweets ("verb" for posting twitter updates) like 8 times a day and answers questions personally.

I joined twitter because I came to know Shashi Tharoor was in it for real. He is one person I admire and this is my chance to follow his updates and even be in touch with him.

How to use Twitter?

It is not necessary that you need to join twitter.com to use it. You can follow these celebrities updates by visiting their twitter links or monitoring their RSS feeds too. But it is just that if you have a twitter account (which is free), it makes things much easier. Also if you need to contact them, account is a must.

There are lots of twitter clients available. I have heard that tweetdeck is one of the best. Anyway, I use twitter on my iPhone only and there are lots of clients available. If you are on iPhone, be sure to check out these 3 clients - tweetdeck, tweetie and twitterrific.

Anyway, join twitter. Visit a profile (for example Mammu's) and click on the "Follow" button underneath their name. That is it. Now, if you have installed a twitter software on your PC or mobile, just provide the twitter.com login and password to the software and it will automatically fetch updates for you. You can also tweet from the software itself.
