Our Lalettan will don the Army's olive green. The actor will be conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Co.).

Chief of the Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor will do the honours at a ceremony at the Army Headquarters, New Delhi.

Mohanlal is the second major catch by the Army to be its brand ambassodor after cricketer Kapil Dev.

The actor will join the 122 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) of the Madras Regiment or the Kannur Terriers.

he Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit has conferred honorary doctorates to Mohanlal and Oscar winner Resul Pookutty at a special convocation held at the Kalady University campus, near Kochi, on March 16. Kerala Governor RS Gavai awarded the doctorates to Mohanlal and Resul Pookutty. "Mohanlal is an excellent performer. He has an inborn flair for spontaneous acting," said the governor. "Ranging from that of a rustic, innocent lover to a crafty villain, from a devoted patriot to a passionate father, Mohanlal has essayed a rich variety of roles with equal ease and poise."
