That said, where Odiyan is remarkable is how even with ultra negative WOM the movie got to 30 + crores. Sreekumar Menon's marketing strategy has to be given full credit for rejuvenating what seemed a sure shot disaster (especially Kanni Edukkam marketing). However, I feel that he treated the movie more as a business venture than actually any passion for storytelling and that will mean it won't be remembered for very long despite its laudable BO success.
Pakki's success can be credited to Mohanlal more than Nivin. The movie's hype factor was only cause of Lalettan's entry to the project and I am 100% sure, that it would have been a different result if the movie was dependant on Pauly.

Odiyan's success can be shared between Lalettan & VASK marketing strategy.

There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them.

Game changer in a limited sense, I think it was the first big budget Malayalam movie to release WW simultaneously, previously even Pulimurugan released 3-4 weeks after its India rollout. And as Intexequa mentioned the credit has to go to Mohanlal for delivering the king sized opening.
