[Mammootty would get the chance to play yet another character penned by Basheer. Earlier the actor had acted in Adoor's 'Mathilukal', based on Basheer's novel.

Its debutant director Pramod Payyannur who would be directing the cinematic version of Basheer's renowned work 'Balyakalasakhi'. Mammootty would play the character of the romantic hero, Majeed.
