Karthi Launches Thaa audio

The audio launch of Shreya Film’s Thaa was a simple yet starry affair at the Sathyam cinemas this morning. The film is the debut venture of producer Rajesh Utthaman and director RK Suryaprabhakar who was a former associate of Samudrakani. The audio was launched by Karthi and received by Samudrakani and the trailer was launched by K Bhagyaraj and received by RK Selvamani.
The film is full of debutants including Srihari the hero who plays a rustic youth in the film. The second hero is debutant Benito who plays a negative character. The film is about a ruffian who is allergic to girls and finds it impossible to attract them or understand them. What happens when love enters his life forms the story. New face Nisha from Mumbai plays the heroine. Samudrakanni speaking at the function said “I am very proud and happy that Surya Prabakar is directing his first film.”
Karthi, who played a village ruffian in his debut film Paruthiveeran said “I know the travails of doing a rustic makeover from a city boy since I too did it in my first film. The film looks like a sincere effort from a new team and it’s wonderful that new talent is coming to the fore in this way.” The music director of the film, newcomer Srivijay, a Sri Lankan Tamil came in for much praise as well.

Karthi charging 6 Crs for Film

The latest of news is that Karthi is being offered a whopping Rs 6 crore to do his next film, a 300 per cent increase in salary! Never before in history of Tamil films has a star dominated the box-office on a continuous back to back hits right from debut.

Karthi, in fact, has been the star of 2010 as, within a space of eight months, he has had a hat-trick of hits — Aayirathil Oruvan, Paiyaa and now, Naan Mahaan Alla. And is among the top five saleable stars in the industry along side brother Surya, a fantastic feat by any yardstick.

A leading theatre owner in Chennai says "I know star ratings, based purely on box-office collections, is a very sensitive subject in Tamil Nadu. However, now, nobody can deny that Karthi has an opening. All his three films released this year took fantastic opening which is the true sign of a superstar. It means audiences are willing to pay money to come to the theatre to see the star. Among the new breed of stars, I'm betting big on him,".

His next movie Siruthai, A remake of the Telugu blockbuster Vikramarkudu has Karthi on safe seats for his next movie too.
