കടല്*: മണിരത്*നം ചിത്രത്തില്* അരവിന്ദ് സ്വാമിയും
06 Feb 2012 പ്രണയകഥ പറയാന്* മണിരത്*നം കടല്*തീരത്തേക്ക് ക്യാമറ തിരിക്കുന്നു. മൗനരാഗവും ഗീതാഞ്ജലിയും അലൈപായുതയുമൊക്കെ സമ്മാനിച്ച മണിരത്*നം മുക്കുവ ജീവിതം പശ്ചാത്തലമാക്കിയാണ് രാമേശ്വരം പ്രധാന ലൊക്കേഷനാക്കി പ്രണകഥ പറയാന്* ഒരുങ്ങുന്നത്. 'കടല്*' എന്ന് പേരിട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെ 90 കളിലെ നായകന്* കാര്*ത്തിക്കിന്റെ മകന്* ഗൗതം നായകനായി അരങ്ങേറ്റം കുറിക്കും. ഏറെ അന്വേഷണങ്ങള്*ക്കൊടുവില്* നായികയായി തെന്നിന്ത്യയിലെ പുതിയ താരോദയം സാമന്തയേയും നിശ്ചയിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞു. തമിഴിലും തെലുങ്കിലുമായി ഒരേ സമയം ഒരുക്കുന്ന ചിത്രത്തില്* ആക്ഷന്* കിങ് അര്*ജുന്* വില്ലന്* വേഷത്തിലെത്തും. ദളപതിയിലൂടെ മണിരത്*നം അവതരിപ്പിച്ച അരവിന്ദ് സ്വാമി നീണ്ട ഇടവേളയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം 'കടലി'ലൂടെ അഭിനയരംഗത്തേക്ക് മടങ്ങിയെത്തുകയാണ്. നായികയുടെയോ നായകന്റെയോ ഇതില്* ഒരാളുടെ അച്ഛന്റെ വേഷമാണ് അരവിന്ദ് സ്വാമിക്കെന്നാണ് സൂചന. ലക്ഷ്മി മഞ്ചു, തമ്പി രാമയ്യ, പാര്*ഥിപന്* എന്നിവരും ചിത്രത്തിലുണ്ടാവും. വൈരമുത്തുവിന്റെ വരികള്*ക്ക് എ.ആര്* റഹ്മാന്റേതാണ് സംഗീതം. രാജീവ് മേനോന്* ഛായാഗ്രഹണവും ശ്രീകര്*പ്രസാദ് എഡിറ്റിങ്ങും നിര്*വഹിക്കും. മദ്രാസ് ടാക്കീസിന്റെ ബാനറില്* മണിരത്*നം തന്നെയാണ് കടല്* നിര്*മ്മിക്കുന്നത്

Work is going on in a fast track as far as Mani Ratnam's forthcoming film 'Kadal' is concerned. Two songs have already been recorded by A R Rahman and the director is gearing up to starting the first schedule of shooting soon.
 Claiming that one of the two numbers would occupy a place in 'Best 10 songs of the decade', the ace lyricist says, "I am happy that my poems have used by Mani Ratnam and they are beautifully given shape by Rahman." Vairamuthu, who took a break from actively penning lyrics for films, adds: "That's because I had some personal commitments to honor. I have completed all of them in the last five years. Both my sons got married and I had built a house. Now I am back to penning lyrics in full swing." |

AR Reihana to debut in Malayalam

Reihana has a Malayalee connection as her father RK Sekhar was a very popular music director in Malayalam during the 70’s. Her brother AR Rahman early in his career has also done music for Yodha, a Mohanlal film. Reihana who hosts the popular show Rahamania in a FM channel has sung a few Tamil songs and also composed music for three Tamil films. Her claim to fame is the controversial chartbuster “Malai, Malai..” in Chocolate. Reihana in a press meet in Kochi said : “ I think I have very strong connections with Kerala. My father RK Sekhar was a very popular music director during his times. My brother AR Rahman is very, very popular in Kerala and my son GV Prakash’s music is growing in popularity. I’m doing this Malayalam film as director Sukumar was a friend of my dad.” |

Rahman features again in Oprah's new series
 Academy Award winning musician A.R. Rahman will be featured in the OWN original primetime series, Oprah's Next Chapter, as part of a new two-part special episode titled Oprah Travels to India. The show talks about Oprah's visit to India where Rahman welcomes her and the show highlights his foundation KM Music Conservatory by featuring a stunning performance with The KM Music Conservatory children's choir. The choir had the honor of performing for Oprah as well as some of Bollywood's biggest stars at what Indian media proclaimed as 'the party of the year'. Capturing her first trip to the country, Oprah Travels to India premiered yesterday (Sunday April 22, 2012) at 8/9c on OWN with part 2 of the episode, 'Women of India', to air on Sunday, April 29.
AR Rahman has shaped modern India's music for more than a decade. Rahman met Oprah in 2009 when he captured the international spotlight for his work on Slumdog Millionaire after winning two Academy Awards for 'Best Original Score' and 'Best Original Song' for 'Jai Ho'. Rahman performed on The Oprah Winfrey Show that year and was also seated at the same table as Oprah at the TIME 100 gala event celebrating some of the world's most influential people. That evening, they discussed a future visit to India and Oprah had tweeted that she was looking forward to a tour. Oprah Travels to India is part of the new primetime series, OPRAH'S NEXT CHAPTER, in which Oprah steps outside of the studio for enlightening conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, thought leaders and real-life families. Rahman meanwhile continues to shine on the international arena and is currently working on composing the music for DreamWorks Animation's Monkeys of Mumbai, and also recently completed composing writer Alex Kurtzman's directorial debut, People Like Us (starring Chris Pine, Olivia Wilde, Elizabeth Banks, Jon Favreau and Michelle Pfeiffer) which is set for release on June 29.
