Pongal biggies open big

The two Pongal 2012 biggies Vijay’s Shankar directed Nanban and Lingusamy’s Arya- Madhavan starrer Vettai have taken very good opening at the Tamil Nadu box-office.
Nanban which opened on January 12, took an extraordinary opening, as for two days (Jan 12 & 13) most of the screens in the state screened the film.

The film got the advantage of being a solo release for two days.
Vettai opened well, on January 14 as it was heavily marketed as a family entertainer.

The promotions for the film where the entire cast and crew visited television studios helped the film to take a flying opening.
The TN government new tax policy also helped both the films which carry ‘U’certificate.

The first week share of both the films would be very high, as an additional 30% comes to the kitty.
The weather during the Pongal holidays was also pleasant throughout TN, and family audiences thronged the theatres.

All in all it looks like a very good harvest at the Pongal box-office for Tamil cinema.

Vettai brings Madhavan back to Tamil after a long time. This Lingusamy directed action-drama is a full on entertainer with good dosage of comedy and other ingredients necessary for a potboiler. Madhavan and Arya play the inseparable brothers while Sameera and Amala Paul play the gals who are smitten by the brothers.

Vettai's pre-release talks were good and hence the movie's advance bookings were good too.

Vettai Make a Big Hunting in Box Office

The festive season of Pongal has become a great time for the makers of Vettai. Starring Madhavan, Aarya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in lead roles, Lingusamy’s Vettai has made a remarkable opening in box office.

UTV Motion Pictures is extremely happy about Lingusamy’s package of commercial ingredients for the film is receiving repeat audiences. According to the trade reports, the film has spanned a collection of whooping amount – Rs. 15.5Crs within first four days of release.
