Akshay Kumar hasn't shot a single day for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 so far but the makers have plans to bring this underworld gaga right on schedule next Independence day weekend. Though there have been speculations around whether this is a wishful thinking or indeed a definite possibility, courtesy quite a few other assignments that he is currently engaged on, those close to Ekta Kapoor and Milan Luthria claim that the producer and the director are happily chanting the call of 'all is well'.
"Both are currently busy on wrappingup The Dirty Picture but as soon as the film's release is through, they would go heads down on kick-starting Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 . There is no need for anyone to panic because things are going entirely as per the plans", says a source close to the duo, "In fact as we talk, the final version of the film'sscript is being locked and a parallel hero (to Akshay) is being finalised. More than anyone else, Akshay is most excited about beginning work on the film. He is convinced that this is the one huge clutter-breaking film in his line-up."
The speculations around the arrival time period of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 began when the release timing for Akshay's another action entertainer Rowdy Rathore was announced last week. As the film would arrive in June while Akshay's other film Housefull 2 has been pre-poned to April next year, many wondered if it would be too much too soon for Akshay to bring yet another film in August 2012.
"Akshay works quite fast on his films," says a close associate of Akshay. "His films typically take 50-70 days to complete and Milan's film won't be any different. In fact what is also helping the makers further is the fact that the crew of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 as well as The Dirty Picture is nearly thesame. This means that from a continuity perspective, everyone involved has to move from one film to another."
This is exactly what's allowing Milan to breathe easy as well. Though he isnow going through reverse counting for the 2nd December release for his Vidya Balan-Emraan Hashmi starrer The Dirty Picture , the Balaji team is working simultaneously on the pre-production of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai so that there is a hassle-free beginning for one of the most keenly awaited sequels next year.
When contacted, Milan dismissed rumours surrounding the film and confirmed that it would indeed make it for 17th August release next year. "I always wanted to make films back to back to back without waste any time. Guess this time around all seems to be going as per plans. We have all dates blocked for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai , start shooting next February and wrap it by April in more or less a single schedule. All is well", he chuckles before signing off.

Over-budget on paper?


The sequel of ONCE UPON A TIME INMUMBAAI continues to make news.The latest rumor doing the rounds ofthe industry is that the film is alreadyover-budget on paper, even beforethe makers, producer Ekta Kapoorand director Milan Luthria, havecommenced filming. Obviously, anews-report like this would raise eyebrows.

"Our focus has been on projects which benefit everyone. We followedthe same pattern in ONCE UPON ATIME IN MUMBAAI and THE DIRTYPICTURE. The budget has to besensible," Milan Luthria elucidates, "At the same time, we need to justifythe humungous expectations. Thesequel is amongst the most awaitedmovies of this year and we have toensure that the scale is just right.Balancing content and mathematicssensibly is a must.

"ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI - 2begins filming in May. "We've yet tolock the star cast. Only Akshay Kumaris finalized right now," Milan says.We're told that the makers havemade contact with Abhishek made contact with AbhishekBachchan and Shahid Kapoor for thesecond lead. One of them will bechosen for the role in question. "It's asensitive topic. Ekta and I have notdecided on the second lead as well asthe leading lady for the project.Hopefully, we will have the final castin place this week," he adds.

What about Emraan Hashmi?Reportedly, Ekta and Milan feelEmraan is their lucky mascot and theactor has to be included in the sequel."It's impossible. Imran Khan signed for OUATIM 2




Imran Khan is on a high these days, courtesy, his last film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu hitting the jackpot at the Box Office. The actor, who is busy shooting for Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola, has signed yet another biggie.

Imran has been signed as the parallel lead in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, which stars Akshay Kumar.

There were speculations for a while as to who will be playing the second lead in the film. With various names being thrown in, eventually, it is Imran who has bagged the coveted role. Imran will be seen essaying the role of Aslam, which contrary to belief, isn't based on real-life gangsters Chotta Shakeel or Chhota Rajan.

The film goes into production in July this year, and is scheduled for an early next year release.

Fight for Once Upon a time in Mumbai Sequel- Female Lead





Rumours are all around that Sonakshi Sinha, Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are in the race to be cast as the moll in an upcoming gangster film.

Now that Imran Khan is finalized for the other actor with Akshay Kumar in Milan Luthria’s gangster movie - a Sequel to Once Upton a time in Mumbai, The director and producer Ekta Kapoor are likely to finalise the female lead soon, as the shoot is scheduled to start later this June.

It is learnt that Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha are in consideration for the role of the moll in the movie based on the Mumbai underworld from late 1970s to mid '80s.

Reportly Kangana Ranaut was first choice for this movie.

After first choice Vidya Balan couldn't commit to the film that also features John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Sonu Sood and Manoj Bajpai, Kangna was offered and eventually confirmed for the part," says our source, adding that consequently, Ekta and Milan decided to change the cast of their movie.

Akshay Kumar And Imran Khan In Once Upon A Time In MumbaaiAgain

When it was announced that Akshay Kumar had been signed up for the sequel of Balaji’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai , there was major excitement and curiosity about the unexpected choice of actor. The announcement was followed by months of speculation around who was going to play the parallel lead. Many names were tossed about but now we can reveal who is set play Aslam.
The filmmakers have confirmed that Imran Khan will join Akshay in the highly anticipated film. Riding high after a string of consecutive hits like Delhi Belly, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu , Imran will make his first foray into a franchise product with the mammoth sequel.
According to trade sources, the film’s formidable and unconventional casting has made it among the biggest and most keenly anticipated industry features.
Says director Milan Luthria, “The uniqueness of pairing Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in the original made people sit up and applaud. Sonakshi signed opposite Akshay in OUATIM sequel




Sonakshi Sinha has been signed on to play Akshay Kumar's love interest in the much awaited sequel of Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Sonakshi will be seen playing gangster Shoaib's (played by Akshay Kumar) moll in the film.

This will be Sonakshi's third film with Akshay after Joker and Rowdy Rathore. Sonakshi will be seen playing the role of Yasmin, which is said to be based on the life of Ram Teri Ganga Maili actress Mandakini, a young, innocent girl who aspires to be an actress and how her life changes after she falls in love with a gangster. There will also be a love triangle between Imran Khan, Sonakshi and Akshay.

The sequel, produced by Balaji Telefilms, will go on floors in August.

There has been intense speculation about who would be the leading lady of Once Upon A Time in Mumbai 2 after Kareena Kapoor walked out of the project, reportedly to accommodate Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film opposite Ranveer Singh.

For a while, it was rumoured that Sonakshi Sinha had been roped in for the part opposite Akshay Kumar in the film. And Mirror can now confirm that she is the chosen one to have finally signed on the dotted line.

A source close to the developments told us, "It is Sonakshi. She had been approached after Kareena walked out, but there were major date issues among other things. With Rowdy Rathore and Joker yet to be released, the actress wasn't sure if she wanted to do yet another film with Akshay and vice versa. Then again, Kangna's name started doing the rounds. However, after Ranveer's accident on the sets of Lootera, Sonakshi had a window of dates available, and finally agreed to do the film."

Meanwhile, buzz is that Sonakshi had reservations about playing Dawood's girlfriend, Mandakini, which is why she took her own time making up her mind. Especially since she would have to appear in a very bold avatar, unlike her screen persona.

Ribbed about it, our source said, "Sonakshi was in two minds about playing a character based on the Bollywood actress. That was coupled with the fact that she would have to ooze sexuality. However, all that has been taken care of now, and the makers have decided against the bold sequences. Sonakshi is perfectly happy with the film."

The film is slated to go on floors in August as Akshay will start shooting for Ashish R Mohan's Khiladi 786 in May and Sonakshi will also know where exactly Lootera stands after Ranveer's recovery.

The sequel to Once Upon a Time in Mumbai stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan in lead roles and is directed by Milan Luthria. In spite of repeated attempts, Milan, Sonakshi and Ekta Kapoor remained unavailable for comments.
