Theater: Kanhangad Kailas
Date & Time: Sep 19 8:00 pm Attendence: Balcony 60% Story: Film depicts the story narrated by a police commissioner, who went through a bizarre series of events on a particular day following an anonymous bomb threat. Direction and ....: Movie is a scene-to-scene remake of the Hindi original. Director Chakri, even though a US film institute product, didnt try anything of his own. So, we need to wait and watch for his next movie to know how good a director he is. Everything camera angles, movements, locations reminds you the original. Background score was good and usage of silence(less noice pollution) made the movie more intense. Its good to see that they didn't spoil the movie by add any songs. Performances: Of course movie's highlight is the perfomances. Kamal is just good in his role. His emotional dialogs towards the end was really brilliant. But the "common man effect" was missing throughout the movie. May be because of comparison with Naseeruddin Shah. But that role was not suited for a superstar - here one can easily guess the proceedings. Mohanlal on the other hand is really treat to watch in subtle role like this. He might be stuck in side the police station for most part of the movie, but his body language, eye movements, sarcastic smiles, one liners are enough to make you satisfied. Ganesh Venkatram,Laxmi, terrorists all did their part well. Overall: Very good and honest remake of Wednesday. Since I have seen the original, I watched this movie just to see the lal-kamal combo. Go and watch it if you have not seen Wednesday. Others, watch it to experience two great actors of our time coming together for the first time. |
