The Kochi franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday denied it was in talks with former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly for a place in the team in the fourth season of the tournament.

Reacting to media reports that the Kochi IPL was trying to sign up Ganguly, Mehul Shah, a majority stake owner in the franchise, told Headlines Today that there was no such move.

Media reports had said that the Kochi IPL had contacted other teams to get a no-objection certificate (NOC) from them to rope in Ganguly, as players unsold in the auction could not be picked without their consent.

The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain had remained unsold at the IPL 4 auctions held earlier this month. The 38-year-old batsman had played for KKR in the first three seasons.

since the rumours have spread like wild fire and most have welcomed it...I think kochi owners will definitely rethink
