In T20 cricket, we need our best batsman to face as many as balls as possible.
As a MI fan, I could vouch for that.. We all remember what happened n the finals when MI payed CSK in 2010 finals.
We sent in Abhishek Nayar, Saurabh Tiwary, Ambati Rayudu, JP Duminy and then Keiron Pollard was sent in when hardly 3-4 overs where left (point to be noted :- Pollard was in red hot form back then).
In Nidhahasa final, we made following mistakes :-
1. We wouldn't experiment on the final day. Athinu mumbathe final league match il we batted 1st against the same opposition. If we were to experiment by sending in a youngster ahead, we would have done it while batting 1st on that final league match and not on the final day.
2. Even if you were to experiment on that final, you had a daylight example right before you in the form of an experienced batsman Manish Pandey struggling to get his timing right on that slow wicket. How on earth do you expect a youngster to come and hit runs for you (who haven't faced a single ball in the tournament so far) when your senior batsman who has been scoring runs fr you is struggling for timing plus the added pressure of the finals as well.
It was undoubtedly a terrible misjudgement which luckily didn't cost us the tournament.
