a very balanced Oscars but completely ignored Zero Dark Thirty, which deserved alot more.
Argo as expected, the front runner, won Best Picture. truly deserving for a great film, an underdog, but later became the favorite of all award shows.
Ang Lee - must say - if anyone deserved that award this year, it was film. it requires one crazy abnormal mind and vision to visualize Martel's novel into a visual spectacular which leaves you haunted with its storyline.
Daniel Day nailed it, nobody else stood a chance. Jennifer Lawrence - another expected one. But i wish Jessica Chastain won it. she was too brilliant to lose it to somebody else.

The Razzies 2013: full list of winners

The Golden Raspberry Awards, given out the night before the Oscars, send Twilight off with some trophies...

The annual Razzies, The Golden Raspberry Awards, were conceived with the idea of being an antidote to the Oscars, to highlight the worst of Hollywood while everyone else got on with saluting the best. A way to keep Hollywood's collective ego in check, if you like.

They're not turned out that way of course, instead choosing to hit obvious targets more often than not. Hence, this year's ceremony decided to give it to Twilight with both barrels. There were many, many worse films than Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 last year, but the Razzies went after the high profile film instead. We're hardly Twilight fanatics, but it seems a little odd.

Anyway, here are the full winners of this year's Razzies. We suspect you can come up with more deserving winners in the comments...

Worst Picture
THE TWILIGHT SAGA - BREAKING DAWN PART 2

Worst Actress
KRISTEN STEWART (Snow White And The Huntsman, The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn Part 2)

Worst Actor
ADAM SANDLER (That's My Boy)

Worst Supporting Actress
RIHANNA (Battleship)

Worst Supporting Actor
TAYLOR LAUTNER (The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn Part 2)

Worst Screen Couple
MACKENZIE FOY and TAYLOR LAUTNER (The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn Part 2)

Worst Director

‘Man of Steel’ Early Screening Reaction: A ‘Nolan Story with Snyder Action’
by Sandy Schaefer

Hanry Cavill Superman Man of Steel

The Man of Steel trailers released so far paint director Zack Snyder’s Superman movie reboot as a contemplative and morose take on the character. Costar Russell Crowe (who’s playing Jor-El) has been emphasizing the film’s scale and scope as something the previews cannot fully do justice. Meanwhile, his onscreen son Henry Cavill insists Snyder’s superhero flick is less dark and more action-packed than screenwriter David S. Goyer and producer Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

Well, Warner Bros. has begun Man of Steel test audience screenings, and the initial consensus is positive so far (bear in mind, many responses are coming from fans). More interesting, however, is that initial descriptions very much align with what the cast and crew have been claiming, with regard to Snyder’s movie being realistic, but not overly-serious, in its approach to the fantastical comic book mythos.

JoBlo received the following Man of Steel early screening reaction/description from “a scooper (whom we know and trust 100%),” which arrives pre-packed in bullet-point form and covers several points of interest dealing with the film’s overall tone and style.

You can check it out below:

Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.
It’s the best movie of the year.
There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.
The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.
They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.
It’s not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.
The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place.

Again, passing over the scooper’s “best movie of the year” claim (obviously, it’s just one response from an excited fan), their Man of Steel descriptions should help lay to rest misconceptions about this being more Nolan’s film than Snyder’s; not to mention, complaints that Snyder is abandoning his own trademark style in favor of grounded action and spectacle more on par with The Dark Knight Rises.

Superman Man of Steel Not a Comic Book Movie

Visually-expressive titles like Snyder’s Watchmen and 300 movies (as well as his less-popular Legend of the Guardians and Sucker Punch) demonstrate his strength as an action filmmaker, which is part of the reason I’ve long been interested to see how he brings Supes to life – especially, while making it seem believable that Kal-El could exist in the real-world. Content-wise, Goyer and Snyder are smart in drawing from modern comic storylines like Mark Waid’s “Superman: Birthright” and Geoff Johns’ “Superman: Secret Origin.”

Action and contemporary relevance are both departments where Man of Steel aims to dominate Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns, in addition to overshadowing the now-outdated effects and battle sequences pitting Superman against General Zod and his troops in Superman II. As for everything else, well… that remains to be seen (though, the early signs are encouraging).

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’: The Real Reason for the Delay

9 months ago by Niall Browne (http://screenrant.com/author/niall/)

http://cdn1.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/GI-Joe-Retaliation-delayed-570x310.jpg
Last week Paramount Pictures announced that it was delaying the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation (http://screenrant.com/gi-joe-2-3d-delayed-march-2013-sandy-174105/). The action sequel was shifted from its June 29, 2012 launch to March 29, 2013 because the studio wanted to ‘spend extra time converting the film into 3D’. The reason given for the 3D conversion was that the lucrative ticket price could maximise foreign box office revenue and make the film more profitable.
It seemed odd that a studio would pull such a big film just five weeks before it was set to open, and then wait another nine months before it hit screens. Well, not surprisingly the 3D conversion isn’t the real reason for G.I. Joe: Retaliation (http://www.screenrant.com/tag/gi-joe-2/)‘s delay. Not by a long shot. Scroll down for the real story.

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR (THE OLD VERSION OF) G.I. JOE 2!

Deadline is reporting that G.I. Joe: Retaliation received scores in test screenings that ranged from “mediocre to bad”, and that the one shining light for the film was the relationship between Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson. There was just one tiny problem: Tatum’s character was killed off in the opening minutes of the film. The decision was made to delay the release, arrange a week of reshoots expanding Tatum’s role, and then convert the film into 3D.
Apparently, Paramount didn’t see Channing Tatum as a viable star for the sequel to their 2009 film – hence the reason that Retaliation is toplined by Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis. However, Tatum is now a box office draw following the one-two hit combo of The Vow (http://screenrant.com/tag/the-vow/) and 21 Jump Street (http://screenrant.com/tag/21-jump-street/). That Tatum’s role in Retaliation will be expanded must be good news for his fans and his agent, who must have been able to negotiate a steep fee for the actor’s return.
This line of reasoning still equates the release delay to the cash-grab attempt so many fans saw it as. Hasbro (the toy company that owns G.I. Joe) already suffered the U.S. box office failure of Battleship (http://www.screenrant.com/tag/battleship/), and G.I. Joe 2 would’ve been quickly overshadowed by The Amazing Spider-Man (http://www.screenrant.com/tag/the-amazing-spider-man/) (which comes out a week after G.I. Joe 2‘s original release date). With this delay, the studio and toy company are clearly doing everything they can to secure some kind of profits from this venture.
http://cdn1.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Channing-Tatum-as-Duke.jpg
Deadline writes that G.I. Joe: Retaliation’s director Jon M. Chu was ‘shellshocked’ by the news of the release date move (and presumably the reshoots), so it looks like he wasn’t part of the decision making process to change the film at this late stage. Paramount states the added cost of the new work to Joe will be $5 million, and that the budget of the film ‘should stay under $130 million’. This is something of a naive figure, when you take into account how much it must have cost to regroup the production for a week’s filming – and that a decent 3D conversion costs around $10-15 million. On top of this you have the added expense of creating a new marketing campaign for the film, and figuring out what needs to be done with the merchandise for a film that was scheduled to hit screens in the coming weeks.
This trouble for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has a similar parallel to the rumors in 2009 that stated G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (http://screenrant.com/tag/gi-joe/) director Stephen Sommers was fired (http://screenrant.com/stephen-sommers-fired-gi-joe-kofi-12995/) from post-production by Paramount after test screenings for that film resulted in the lowest scores in the studio’s history. Those rumors were shot down (but weren’t completely eradicated, given the film’s lukewarm reception); however, things look a lot worse for G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation (http://screenrant.com/tag/gi-joe-2/) will be released on March 29th, 2013. Hopefully.

IRON MAN 3 Shoot Headed To INDIA; Marvel Also Scouting Country For THE AVENGERS Sequel?

http://media.comicbookmovie.com/images/articles/72261.png In addition to being reportedly scouted for Marvel's The Avengers sequel, the Republic of India will apparently be utilized and filmed on-location for Iron Man 3 at the end of this month!

DCMarvelFreshman (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/profiles/?u=DCMarvelFreshman) - 1/7/2013

Though principal photography for Iron Man 3 was believed to be wrapping this month in the Capital of China, Beijing, the Hindustan Times is now reporting that extensive filming may take place in the Republic of India. Under Shane Black's direction, a group consisting of 12 people will soon fly to India, according to the trade source. “They will be here between January 20 and 24 for an extensive location hunt for certain scenes of the film. They will be visiting Hyderabad and Bengaluru to see how they can use this,” the source says, adding, “In the film, supposedly, Stark will be in India, and the techies here will help him with his technological problems.”

In addition to Iron Man 3, the Hindustan Times also reported (http://www.hindustantimes.com/Entertainment/Hollywood/The-Avengers-sequel-to-be-shot-in-India/Article1-850727.aspx), mid last year, that Marvel Studios and The Avengers director Joss Whedon plan to utilize India once more for the anticipated 2015 follow-up to last year's top money-maker. “Maharashtra and some locations up north have apparently been shortlisted as of now,” reveals the source. Anyhow, Iron Man 3 will soar into theaters in a little over 3 months, May 3, 2013; while The Avengers will reassemble on May 1, 2015.

Therefore, Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow will be seen promoting Iron Man 3 at its Indian Premiere on 24th April, 2013. Shooting is under way for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/the-amazing-spiderman-2/)," and fans got a glimpse of one of the story's more intriguing moments today as photos surfaced of a scene in which two of the women in Peter Parker's life meet, seemingly for the first time. In the on-set photos, Emma Stone, who played Gwen in 2012's "The Amazing Spider-Man (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/the-amazing-spiderman/)," is back in character and dressed in a subtly sexy outfit featuring a purple skirt, patterned blouse, dark stockings and tall black boots.
While Gwen looks like she's dressed up for a hot date, Shailene Woodley's Mary Jane seems more like the cool girl who would go to Ozzfest with you. Woodley, best known as Amy on the TV series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and for playing Alexandra in "The Descendants (http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/first-look-peter-parker-leading-ladies-amazing-spider-202551833.html#)," is decked out in snug black jeans, a retro-styled rock T-shirt, and a denim jacket with leather sleeves. Longtime followers of the "Spider-Man (http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/first-look-peter-parker-leading-ladies-amazing-spider-202551833.html#)" comic book saga will recall that Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) broke things off with Mary Jane to follow his heart and begin dating Gwen, but eventually fate took a tragic turn (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=AhlX.hhpbqxGkMFPgYvWxwO4AOB_;_ylu=X3oDMTFpaGJ 0OHNsBG1pdANCbG9nIFBvc3QgQm9keQRwb3MDMwRzZWMDTWVka WFCbG9nQm9keUFzc2VtYmx5;_ylg=X3oDMTMydjZsZHMyBGlud GwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDNzM0ZWY0MmMtZjNlNC0 zMjVkLTg3NmItY2IzYWVmM2FhMzZiBHBzdGNhdANibG9nc3xtb 3ZpZXRhbGsEcHQDc3RvcnlwYWdl;_ylv=0/SIG=12qd5oa28/EXP=1364332050/**http%3A//screenrant.com/amazing-spiderman-2-emma-stone-gwen-stacy-death/) which brought Peter and M.J. back together.

The new stills suggest director Marc Webb (also returning for the 2012 reboot) is pushing the Gwen storyline harder than Raimi did, and that he's giving Mary Jane a darker and edgier vibe than Dunst's sweeter and sunnier version.
Aside from Garfield, Stone and Woodley, the sequel will also feature Jamie Foxx as Electro, Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn, and Paul Giamatti as the Rhino. Columbia Pictures plans to have the film in theaters in May 2014.

Columbia Pictures plans to have the film in theaters in May 2014.

angane oduvil Skyfall kandu. been a long wait. had to choose Life of Pi instead of Skyfall when I went to the theaters in busy December.

what a film!! I have read many comments saying Casino Royale was Craig's better Bond film, but I feel SKyfall was too personal, for Bond, M and for Silva as well. and thats what makes it even better. Ever since The Dark Knight - the theme for major super hero films and action films have changed. the perspective being a stronger, darker villain with a terrible past, making the fight personal, gives up to be caught and wrecks havoc from the inside of the system, all building up to a mindblowing climax sequence.
Skyfall is another successful such film - but this time, you're confused who to root for. Silva and M, both can be justified. the cinematography is splendid - indeed spectacular. the script is tight, so is the editing. Daniel Craig has never been this stylish, and what a commanding screen presence. truly, this is the resurrection of Bond films. Sam Mendes deserves a standing ovation. no wonder it is the highest grossing film in the UK and the second highest grossing film worldwide for 2012. in the end, you keep humming both Adele's song and the Bond theme, while the Rat story haunts you.

Evil Dead Movie Review

by Luke (http://www.moviesonline.ca/author/luke/)
March 28, 2013

http://www.moviesonline.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/wpid-MV5BMTc0NDM1ODAyOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMTg0NDY3OA@@._ V1_SX360.jpg (http://www.moviesonline.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/wpid-MV5BMTc0NDM1ODAyOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMTg0NDY3OA@@._ V1_SX360.jpg)
It wasn’t long ago when I was just another voice in the crowd decrying the announcement of yet another remake, let alone the remake of Sam Raimi’s classic THE EVIL DEAD. Throw in news of Diablo Cody coming in to do rewrites on the script and I was having nightmares of a script full of hackneyed teen speak- in short, things were not stacking up in favor of Fede Alvarez’s EVIL DEAD. Then the first red band trailer came out and every single one of my reservations melted away in an instant and I was instantly pumped for the film. Now fast forwarding further now that I’ve had a chance to see the film I am beyond happy to say that I love this movie. I sat in my chair squirming in horror at some incredible practical gore effects in what is easily the hardest R rated movies to come out of Hollywood maybe ever. From beginning to end even while I squirmed in my seat EVIL DEAD had me grinning from ear to ear.
Now I will make my confession- I cannot say that I was madly in love with Raimi’s original film. Before you furious close the window I will clarify that I do really like it, but it hasn’t aged well for me specifically. There’s a lot I really dig about it and it grows on me a little more every time I watch it. That being said I cannot speak to how well the remake will hold up through the test if time, but I wanted to watch it again the second it was over. It is faithful to the original while offering something all its own to take it to the next level.
EVIL DEAD takes the tired five people at a secluded cabin and doesn’t really turn it on its head so much as it accepts what it is and exaggerates everything you already expect. This time instead of five friends on a happy-go-lucky getaway it turns things a little darker by giving them a purpose to be there- their friend Mia (Jane Levy) is quitting drugs cold turkey and don’t want her to be able to leave when things get tough. So naturally her friends and brother, David (Shiloh Fernandez), expect that she will go through hardcore withdrawal and will say or do anything to get them to leave. When they discover a mysterious book in the basement, curiosity leads one of the friends to read a few fateful words that unleash evil that possesses Mia and her behavior the friends write off as side effects from drug withdrawal- until it becomes obvious something darker has taken hold and it may be too late to reverse their fate.
It was hard to gauge the audience reaction to a lot of the things going on in this film. There was plenty of scattered laughter throughout and not always at obvious moments of comedic relief- and trust me, with the amount of f***ed up stuff in this, you NEED the comedic relief. Alvarez embraces everything silly about the set up as does the original, but takes everything to a mostly hilariously enjoyable fashion. The bad decisions, the over-the-top gore and plethora of Raimi-esque camerawork are magnified and displayed perfectly. However, everything that’s dark and disturbing about this are frighteningly so. Some lines might make you giggle, but the logistics of what’s happening or what Mia’s possessed mind is saying are far more terrifying than the initial reaction might be. Essentially this is an immensely enjoyable mixture of cheesy B-horror and darkly serious horror.
The cheese of it all comes from the comedic moments and the throwback moments to the original that includes the demon voices of those possessed and the nasty things they say. The darkness within comes from examining some of the lines deeper and realizing that while the spirit of the film is fun, deep down there’s something incredibly dark about it. However, the script in general is the film’s biggest problem from my perspective. There are a handful of fantastic scripted moments, a handful of really good to okay moments and a little less than a handful of ‘meh’ moments. Added together the script isn’t terrible and for this type of horror film it all works without trying to nitpick too much about the script.
The actors stand just as tall as everyone from the original, with the exception that no one can quite capture the magic of Bruce Campbell as Ash. The smartest thing Alvarez has done is that he steers far away from trying to set up one character as the iconic Ash and instead you can see the spirit of that character throughout in almost every character and their comedic moments. Fernandez and Levy are the MVPs, but this incarnation of EVIL DEAD is the very definition of a team effort.
Now, man oh man the gore. I’m willing to hedge my bets that the budget of this film was exhausted entirely on buckets, upon buckets, upon buckets of blood. The red liquid splashes all over the screen after the mostly slow setup. Once Mia gets possessed in a scene fans of the original will squeal over, the blood rarely stops flowing- in fact the final 10 minutes have more blood flying that in maybe every wide released horror film from last year. That’s the other thing I love about the remake over the original in the fact that Alvarez took what seemed to be an insurmountable task, through off his gloves and just went for it and came out with a film that actually deserves to be said in the same breath as Raimi’s film.
I feel like I could go on and on about this one so I’ll try to round up everything else worth noting here. The score while unspectacular has some nice throwback notes to it. I mentioned the camerawork that almost perfectly captures the type of stuff Raimi leaned heavily on in the original and it works in spades here as well. The practical gore effects are nothing short of spectacular, though I’m not sold that CG didn’t play a hand in some parts. The finale kept me on my toes because there are several parts of the trailer that I suspect were included to throw us off and a lot of what happened in the final moments I was not expecting to go down the way they did.
At this point I feel like I’m gushing about EVIL DEAD like an overeager teen boy that just had sex for the first time. Part of me wants to dial back my excitement a little while the other just wants to tell every last soul how much I loved this movie. My excitement comes from just how much I want this movie to do well at the box office so I can see more balls-to-the-wall horror movies released in a wide capacity and also because I believe that Fede Alvarez did what I’m sure almost no one thought he could by remaking a film that in all seriousness didn’t need to be remade nor really should have been remade. So now to return to my previous sex metaphor, Alvarez’s EVIL DEAD is fast, messy and immensely satisfying- everything that it rightfully should be. If you don’t feel like you need a cigarette after then I think you’re doing wrong.

The Rock Not Returning for Fast and The Furious 7?
Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/17/2013 at 02:46 PM

According to Deadline.com, shooting for Fast and The Furious 7 will kick off in August, which may present a problem for The Rock, who will be filming Hercules this summer. The Rock told Collider.com that it would be impossible to shoot for the film that soon.

"It's not possible for me because I'm shooting Hercules this summer starting in 6 weeks in Budapest, so, possible for them I'm not too sure. I haven't heard anything about that and I'm pretty sure I would have gotten a phone call pretty early in the morning if that was the real plan. Not quite too sure though."

Fast and The Furious 7 is currently scheduled for a release date of July 11th, 2014.

Iron Man 3, review

Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr, is exciting and in Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin we might have the smartest screen interpretation of a villain since Heath Ledger’s Joker.

Dir: Shane Black; Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rebecca Hall, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany (voice), Jon Favreau. 12A cert, 130 min.

Here is a sentence that as recently as 12 months ago, I never expected to write: the superhero film craze has reached dramatic maturity. I can tell you’re sceptical, so cast your mind back to the summer of 2008, when cinema-goers first queued to see Iron Man.

The attraction, back then, was the chance to see the appurtenances of superheroism on screen: the Iron Mask; the Iron Suit; the Iron Arch-Foes being smelted to a purée. Nowadays people are still queueing, and in still greater numbers if last year’s £1billion global gross for Marvel Avengers Assemble is anything to go by, but beloved characters, not recognisable costumes, are increasingly the draw.

In Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Batman’s famous scowl was off-screen more than on it, and likewise, for a significant portion of Iron Man 3, Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark is unmasked and mortal. His new Iron Man suit is a swarm of free-flying components that individually clunk into place on his body, so in some scenes he has, say, a super-powered left leg and right elbow, while the rest of him remains human, vulnerable, and visible.
That’s a great idea for a special effect, but it also means we never lose touch with the man behind the iron. Shane Black, the director, wrote the Lethal Weapon films that codified the buddy cop genre in the late 1980s, and he knows that a raised eyebrow or sideways glance can be more thrilling than any amount of digital whiz-bang.
Iron Man 3 (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/film-news/10004290/Journalists-at-Iron-Man-premiere-banned-from-asking-about-Margaret-Thatcher.html)is a direct sequel to last summer’s Avengers film, in which Tony and his super-colleagues feuded with Norse gods and aliens, destroying much of Manhattan in the process. These events have left him prone to panic attacks, and his worries are compounded by the arrival of two new super-villains on the scene. They are The Mandarin, the inscrutable figurehead of a global terrorist group played by Ben Kingsley (below), and Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian, a dashing geneticist with a special virus that turns his victims’ guts to lava.
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02537/kingsley2_2537781c.jpg
These two characters have been culled from the comics, but Black and his co-writer Drew Pearce take wild liberties with both, and even viewers who have never once flicked through a graphic novel will be able to appreciate the lateral thinking at play here. In fact, Kingsley’s Mandarin might be the smartest screen interpretation of a villain since Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight (2008), although for very different reasons, and the moment his diabolical purpose is finally unveiled brings the house down.
In that scene, and elsewhere, Black has an instinctive feel for balancing action set-pieces against the passages of soap-opera that are required to make them matter. He also avoids the preeningly self-satisfied insider gags that made Iron Man 2 (2010) such a slog: instead, there are jokes about Downton Abbey and Croydon, and we can all laugh at those. The supporting cast get it, too. Don Cheadle, as Col. James Rhodes, the pilot of Iron Man’s official US military counterpart War Machine, channels the Lethal Weapon spirit, happily playing Murtaugh to Downey’s Riggs; while Gwyneth Paltrow, as Tony’s sweetheart Pepper Potts, may not have been this straightforwardly likeable in a decade.

You have to admire Disney and Marvel Studios’ gumption: with the Avengers franchise, of which this film is the seventh instalment, they have effectively brought back the matinee serial, and have found an enormous and appreciative audience for it. One hundred years of popular cinema has taken us from The Perils of Pauline to The Travails of Tony. Long may the juggernaut continue to rumble.
