Hollywood superstar (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/search?q=Hollywood%20superstar) Julia Roberts (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Julia-Roberts) has converted to Hinduism in the hope of having a peaceful life in her next incarnation.

The 42-year-old actress, who was born to a Baptist and Catholic couple, is now a practising Hindu after visiting India while shooting her upcoming movie 'Eat Pray Love'.

Speaking to the September issue of Elle magazine, the Academy award winning actress said she now goes to temples to "chant, pray and celebrate" accompanied by her cameraman husband Daniel Moder and their three children, Hazel, Phinnaeus and Henry.

"I'm definitely a practising Hindu. I've been so spoiled with my friends and family in this life. Next time I want to be just something quiet and supporting," said Roberts.

The 'Pretty Woman' star was introduced to the Eastern philosophy while shooting for 'Eat Pray Love', the movie, based on the best-selling book by Elizabeth Gilbert, Roberts plays a recently-divorced woman travelling the world trying to find herself.

The character visits Italy for food, India for spirituality and Bali, where she finds love.

Superman is getting ready to take flight under Christopher Nolan's supervision, but he has made it clear that he won't be directing the forthcoming superhero film, tentatively titled "The Man of Steel." Instead, the man responsible for "The Dark Knight" is seeking other talented filmmakers to bring Superman back to the big screen — and according to one source, he has his eye on a few specific directors.

Deadline reports that "major announcements involving DC characters [are] coming in four weeks," including one particularly important decision regarding the director of the "Superman" franchise's next live-action entry.

According to the report, the short list of directors includes Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, Duncan Jones and Zack Snyder. Guillermo del Toro was once a candidate for the job, though he's no longer considered likely for the role.

Nolan has reportedly already started taking meetings with prospective "Superman" candidates, and is said to be submitting his personal choice to Warner Bros. within the next few weeks.

On paper, some of these candidates seem more likely than others. Certain directors are already committed to future projects, such as Liebesman, who is signed on for Warner's "Clash of the Titans" sequel. Snyder is a regular presence on the WB lot while both Matt Reeves and Duncan Jones are considered up and coming filmmakers thanks to "Cloverfield" and "Moon," respectively. Their latest films, "Let Me In" and "Source Code," could make big enough splashes to warrant their hiring as the next "Superman" director.

But at this point, it remains too early to say who will ultimately wind up behind the lens for the "Superman" reboot. Keep it locked to Splash Page in the coming weeks and months for more news as it develops

MOVIE:- EXAM [2009]
http://www.imageupload.org/?di=212912264719
The Plot

In a sterile gray room, eight applicants for one of the most prestigious jobs imaginable are gathered for a test to determine which one should receive the coveted position. They’re given a quick rundown of the rules by a stern administrator (Colin Salmon): they have 80 minutes to answer a single question. If they communicate with the administrator or the guard at the door, they’re disqualified. If they leave the room, they’re disqualified. If they "spoil" their test paper, they’re disqualified. And lastly, there is no law in the room. The only laws are the rules. When the timer begins, the applicants turn over their papers to reveal...nothing. It becomes apparent that they'll not only have to figure out the answer, but also the question. They decide to cooperate, but how far can they trust each other? As secrets emerge about the candidates and the company, the test devolves into suspicion, trickery, sabotage and violence, and all the while the clock keeps ticking away...

Just saw The Fighter. One word : "Awesome" Christian Bale stole the show.

This could bring the Oscar to him, even though Colin Firth would be a tough contestant in the same category with his The King's Speech.

10 Must see films of 2010 picked by founder and CEO of IMDb
--Rated in ascending oredr--

1.Biutiful

This is one of the most grim movies I have ever seen. It's incredibly well constructed and is book-ended by two separate scenes at either end which turn it into a masterpiece. You'll squirm and you'll be deeply depressed but it's touching nonetheless with a remarkable spiritual message and Javier Bardem is simply amazing. The sort of film which haunts you for days. Seen at the Cannes Film Festival in its world premiere. ”

2. "4.3.2.1"

A breathless British thriller in a Tarantino/Ritchie style featuring stolen diamonds and four overlapping stories with many twists and turns along the way. Noel Clark co-directs his own script with Mark Davis. Kevin Smith has an amusing minor role which all adds to the fun. ”

3. Rabbit Hole

I was fortunate enough to catch this movie "cold" without knowing any of the plot details and it works best that way, so do try to avoid any trailers. The story very carefully unfolds as pieces of the backstory are revealed and we go on a difficult yet rewarding journey with the main characters, played with great skill by Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart. Quality filmmaking throughout and efficiently shot in just 28 days. Seen at the
Toronto International Film Festival. ”

4. The Town

Director Ben Affleck follows-up his stunning debut (Gone Baby Gone) with another Boston-set crime thriller. A great cast delivers with Rebecca Hall continuing to extend her range of characters. I am thrilled to learn that a four hour version of the movie exists. Seen in LA with most of the IMDb LA team during the week of IMDb’s 20th anniversary celebrations. ”

5. The King's Speech

This is a remarkable film and works on so many different levels. Colin Firth is amazing and deserves every award the industry can give him, but he is one part of an outstanding cast. It's a film about love, friendship and duty. It's a great historical record and a peek inside a story likely to be unfamiliar to much of the audience. It also has many genuinely funny moments which lighten what could have been a very dark film given the late 1930s setting. Superb camera work, great attention to detail in the production design/costumes and all masterfully directed by Tom Hooper. Finally, amazing use of music, particularly in the pivotal scene which gives the film its title. Seen at a special advance screening in London by UK distributor Momentum Pictures. ”

6. Kick-Ass

An IMDb user review accurately describes this as a cross between Spider-Man and Kill Bill, so consider yourself warned. It is relentlessly violent and consistently smart. Just like Stardust it has another nicely constructed screenplay from Jane Goldman; perfect direction from Matthew Vaughn; and a wicked bad guy in the form of the exceptional Mark Strong. The Hit Girl character is particularly outstanding and deserves her own spin-off movie ... Chloe Moretz has a great future ahead. ”

7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

A wonderful opening to the final chapter of the Harry Potter story. I remember taking my daughters to see the first movie nine years ago when they were eight and so they have grown up with the characters in this series and it will always hold a special place for me. All the usual elements are in place to provide great entertainment and a shiver went down my spine when the wording on the bequeathed snitch read "I open at the close" ... a mighty adventure to come in part two next year. ”

8. Black Swan

One of our external critic's sites (see Front Row Films' review) describes this as The Red Shoes remade by Brian De Palma– the reviewer meant it in a bad way but I see that as a positive feature. Director Darren Aronofsky triumphs again with this tale of obsessions of many kinds set in the world of ballet. A testament to the dedication of all involved that this was finally made after a 10 year journey to the screen -- here's a nice piece of related IMDb trivia. Seen at the Toronto International Film Festival. ”

9. The Social Network

This "had me at hello" with a stunning opening scene which set the tone for the rest of this movie. David Fincher once again demonstrates his flexibility to make movie magic happen with any kind of story. The founding of IMDb is much more straightforward than the story here, luckily for myself and our other staff members! Seen on its opening weekend in Seattle, fittingly with a group from our US team. I am looking forward to seeing Rooney Mara in the Fincher remake of
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. ”

10. Inception

A mind-blowingly original thriller from the mind of Christopher Nolan, executed to near perfection on-screen to create the best in-cinema viewing experience for me in nearly 25 years. The last time I left a cinema feeling this good about a movie was for Aliens in 1986. This is intelligent film-making at its absolute best. I recommend reading the IMDb FAQ after watching it. I've seen it five times so far and it has become my second favourite movie of all-time. Seen at the world premiere in London with the cast and crew in attendance. ”

BLACK SWAN[2010]
BLACK SWAN follows the story of Nina (Portman), a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) who zealously supports her daughter’s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.

RABBIT HOLE is a vivid, hopeful, honest and unexpectedly witty portrait of a family searching for what remains possible in the most impossible of all situations. Becca and Howie Corbett (NICOLE KIDMAN and AARON ECKHART) are returning to their everyday existence in the wake of a shocking, sudden loss. Just eight months ago, they were a happy suburban family with everything they wanted. Now, they are caught in a maze of memory, longing, guilt, recrimination, sarcasm and tightly controlled rage from which they cannot escape. While Becca finds pain in the familiar, Howie finds comfort. The shifts come in abrupt, unforeseen moments. Becca hesitantly opens up to her opinionated, loving mother (DIANNE WIEST) and secretly reaches out to the teenager involved in the accident that changed everything (MILES TELLER); while Howie lashes out and imagines solace with another woman (SANDRA OH). Yet, as off track as they are, the couple keeps trying to find their way back to a life that still holds the potential for beauty, laughter and happiness. The resulting journey is an intimate glimpse into two people learning to re-engage with each other and a world that has been tilted off its axis.

THE AMERICAN[2010]
Plot
Armourer/assassin Jack/Edward (Clooney) goes to an Italian village/small town for one last job/existential crisis and sex/love with a local hooker/beauty (Placido).
Verdict
A muted thriller, weighed a little too obviously with existential angst. Still, sexy and tense, with a brave, bare performance from Clooney.

All good things [2010]

Inspired by the most notorious missing person’s case in New York history, ALL GOOD THINGS is a love story and murder mystery set against the backdrop of a New York real estate dynasty in the 1980s. Produced and directed by Andrew Jarecki (director of the Academy Award-nominated doc Capturing the Friedmans and producer of Catfish), the film was inspired by the story of Robert Durst, scion of the wealthy Durst family. Mr. Durst was suspected but never tried for killing his wife Kathie who disappeared in 1982 and was never found. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst and Frank Langella as the powerful patriarch, and captures the emotion and complexity of this real-life unsolved mystery

Fish tank[2009]
Here we have a tale of 15 year-old school drop-out Mia (Jarvis), living as part of a broken family in the flats of an Essex estate. With her tempered mother and even more tempered younger sister, Mia navigates through life mouthing off, spitting venom and usually putting her self in positions that compromise the authority of others.
When she's not trying to stand up for the rights of chained-up animals or head-butting kids of her own ilk, she traps herself in her empty flat where others cannot see her performing her own constructed dance routines. Her menial life is further layered by the non-existent interest in her studies and her reputation as a violent trouble-maker.

The family of girls are an interesting watch. We experience their downtrodden view on life through a mother who is past her best, a daughter with intense personal troubles and her younger sister, who provides most of the film's comedy with the worst case of potty mouth you'll hear on screen for quite a while.

Mia's lonely existence is interrupted by the appearance of Connor (Inglourious Basterds (http://www.theshiznit.co.uk/review/inglourious-basterds.php)' Fassbender). A smooth and kindly new boyfriend of her mother, Connor tries on multiple occasions to strike up a rapport with Mia and each time gets a little bit closer. Over time, the two become further entwined (despite Mia's flaring temper) and Mia finds herself with a person in her life with whom she can willingly be open through her expression. She finds herself communicating with Connor through actions instead of words – language being something she's not exactly adept with.

What we get is a girl dealing with emotions she has trouble giving herself over to, and the sexual awakening of a young girl who is quite bewitched by an older man. The film's deftest moments are ones that involve Mia subtly manifesting her emotions physically; Jarvis, a complete amateur before she was spotted by Arnold having a tiff with her boyfriend in a train station, is quite stunning to watch. Fassbender also plays the creep just the right side of slimy.

Of course, their relationship soon takes a trip down the wrong path and the loyalty between trust and expression is soon broken, leading Mia into a very dark place indeed. The third act can be a gruelling watch, but if anything it provides Mia with a sudden dose of medicine that shows her just what she's capable of without even knowing it.

Fans of kitchen sink cinema from the likes of Loach and Leigh will take this on with open arms. Life is not always a pretty state of affairs and Fish Tank doesn't shy away from showing it. Arnold's superb cinematography is something that needs to be mentioned; as much as it captures the dirt and grime of lower-class existence, it has also been thought out very clearly and beautifully expresses the world and the characters together.

Portrayal of inner-city life can often be one-note, but a cast experienced beyond their years combine with Arnold's no frills direction to make a would-be typical story seem fresh and exciting. Jarvis has been knocking up a storm with her performance and it is all too clear from the get go just how natural an actress she is. Fish Tank isn't one you'll want to watch time and time again, but is one you'll be glad you saw

SOMEWHERE [2010]
Somewhere is also a tale of alienation, as well as a father-daughter buddy movie. Johnny, you see, has a problem: He's such a star, such an image, that he doesn't know who he is. He likes to whip around the desert in his black Ferrari (shades of Antonioni, or maybe Vincent Gallo), but only by taking care of Cleo, his 11-year-old daughter from a broken marriage, can he find himself. It helps that Cleo is played by Elle Fanning, a more wide-awake actress than her sister, Dakota. The movie's redemptive structure is a bit routine, yet I watched nearly every scene with a sense of discovery. Coppola is a true filmmaker, and in Somewhere she pierces the Hollywood bubble from the inside

When second-graders Bryce and Juli first meet, Juli knows it's love. Bryce isn't so sure. Beginning that day, and for the next six years, young Bryce (Callan McAuliffe) does everything he can to keep his outspoken wannabe girlfriend at arm's length...which isn't easy since they go to the same school and live across the street from each other. Smart, dreamy, independent and willing to stand up for what she believes in, Juli (Madeline Carroll) is different from anyone else he knows and, frankly, it's a little overwhelming. What's a guy supposed to do when a girl tells him his hair smells like watermelon or wants him to sit in a tree for the spectacular view? There's just no telling what Juli will do next, and Bryce is one guy who'd rather be safe than sorry. Though disappointed by Bryce's unwillingness to see things her way, or even to see the things in life she finds most meaningful, Juli continues to give her potential dreamboat the benefit of the doubt. Until those doubts stack up so high that she finally thinks maybe she was wrong about him. It's just about the same time Bryce starts to think maybe he was wrong about her, too. But is he too late? The coming-of-age romantic comedy "Flipped," from director Rob Reiner, takes Bryce and Juli from Grade School to Junior High, through triumph and disaster, family drama and first love, as they make the discoveries that will define who they are--and who they are to each other.

AN excellent way of story telling..:kidu:,,,STORY ABOUT TENAGE ROMANCE..i like the girl part rather that the boy..and didnt like the girl apologize at the end....overall enjoyable...will give 6.5/10:kidu:

The Plot:

A convicted arsonist looks to manipulate a parole officer into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife in the lawman’s path.
This movie was a total let down for me..had seen the combo performance by Norton and Hopkins in red dragon..i was really excepting some thing far better than the red dragon..
As it here its Norton and De Niro..:salut:
BUt the plot was really weried...really failed to narrate in diffrent situation..The ONE PLUS I SEE IS deNIRO ACTING..:salut:..

just copy pasting binoy's review..bored to type.:winking:.

Theatre : MoE Cinestar (Dubai Intl. Film Festival)
Date & Time : 18th December 2010, 3:15 PM
Status : 90%

Just back after watching "127 Hours" based on a true incident of a miraculous survival, which has double-Oscar winner & India's pride Allah Rakha Rahman and ace film-maker Danny Boyle joining hands after "Slumdog Millionaires" which swept the Oscars in 2009!

Plot

Based on a true story of a miraculous and terrific survival, Aron Ralston played by James Franco, a mountain climber, who gets trapped in Grand Canyon near Utah for 127 hours or just over 5 days, after a boulder crashes on to his right hand! He seeks various means to disencumber himself from that trap throughout these 5 days where he also canvasses his life and recollects about his family and friends! The rest of the movie is about how he survives and gets on with his inspiring life after having to amputate his right hand to survive from the boulder!

Eventhough the whole movie is happening in a very isolated and lonely tract, this terrific tale is surprisingly entertaining... Danny Boyle amazes us yet again with his masterful narration here too where 95% of the story is told inside an isolated mountain with just one individual who is fighting for his survival! Danny Boyle who is a master of crisp editing and quick cuts, uses this talent to full use in this movie. Boyle engages such unique proficiencies for the film, making it a mixture of beautiful, gory, disturbing, and intuitive. Simon Beaufoy who has co-written the screenplay with Danny Boyle, from the memoirs of Aaron Ralston does an incredible job in engaging us throughout the movie and in making us feel the pain and joy of the survivor!

James Franco, as the real life character Aaron was stupendous in terms of bringing out his pain, tension, hopes and never-die spirit to the fullest, who deserves a standing ovation! Cinematography is another factor which mesmerizes us by depicting the horror and pain so breathtakingly brilliant which is flawless! There are some gruesomely gory scenes of self amputation which may disturb you, but don't let that miss you this inspiring tale of survival and near-death experiences! Danny Boyle also conveys a vivid message about the importance of precedences in our life because when it comes down to do or die situations, the most important things in the short lives of ours are recognized.

For us, this film becomes even more special as Allah Rakha Rahman, our own Isai Puyal handles the music for the second time in a Danny Boyle film, which is completely in contrast to "Slumdog Millionaire", but suits the mood of the film so well that it makes this adventure more intense and gripping, in short yet another uber sexy oeuvre from the mozart of Madras...We may feel that, since the music is so in synch with the narration that every single note which had been composed was a part of the scripted dialogue which is something beyond brilliance! "Acid Darbari" and "If I Rise" are the picks of the soundtrack which haunts you entrancingly...! :salut:

On the whole, Danny Boyle brings out yet another inspirational masterwork which is by-far the best movie of 2010 to come out! Do watch it in theater for the soul-stirring music of ARR and awe-inspiring cinematography!:clap::clap:

Verdict - Highly inspiring...Outstanding!
Rating - 9/10
THANKED BINOY :friendsy:

I WILL RATE 7.5, BECOZ THER IS SOME VIOLENCE AND DISTRUBING FRAMES TOWARDS CLIMAX..:eek::cry:

Rabit Hole[2010]
I really enjoy to watch NiCOLE KIDMAN on leading roles of her flicks...:kidu:...she had a that much potential to handle role...which is uncomparable to other HW actress..:kidu:

Couples loses their only child. The entire movie is how they try to come to terms with it. thats it. It begins and ends at the same point.

Performance wise, I guess we have seen better performances from Nicole Kidman in "the hours" and "the others". Not even a single scene touched me... :bore:

i think the movie more focused to show mutual grief or how diffrent minds behaves to one single incident of fate ..for example Nicole questioning the presence of god in counselling section and later withdraws from that section ...but her husband still keep faith and contuning it.... later on the house changing part etc..

In my opinion its not a nerve breaking thriller as like that of vantage point or 21 GRAMS eventhough they are is the same format as a same incident told through different persons...:violin:
but maintained to keep the thrill contents and keep hold back on our seats..:violin:
really executed sceans and dilogues...and how they connnect in end is reallly a plus point of this british movie..:violin:

Watched 4.3.2.1 yesterday.

4 Girls, 3 Days, 2 Cities, 1 Chance

Story of 4 friends told seperately which happens on 3 days in 2 cities getting linked together by 1 incident, a diamond robbery.

I didnt find the movie very exciting at all, as the tagline suggests. I would rate this as the worst muti narrative I have ever seen. :bad:

Had noticed lot of good reviews and good ratings about this movie..so decided to take a chance...yes, in one words its a worth of watch..:kayyadi:
NATALIE PORTMAN :kayyadi:...She simply ruled this movie in every sense..best performance..:kayyadi:CHANCE FOR GETTING OSCAR

Watched 127 hrs yesterday. Liked it very much.

Cinematography is superb. BGM by ARR could'nt make much impact on my mind may be the mind is tuned to it after repeated hearings of the OST.

I must say solitude is powerfully portrayed in Cast away and 127 hrs is no way near it considering that.

Still a Must watch and if this doesnt get a nomination in Oscar Best film category thats very sad!!

Yes, but I am surprised by Matt Damon did not get a nod for his role in the fighter.

127 hours was excellent, but do u think Franco really deserved the nomination.. Entho, I found the character super but franco was just OK (For me)

Jeff bridges kittilla for true grit bcos last year he bagged.

Javier Bardem to act in 23rd James Bond film?

However, the details of his character are kept under wraps but since Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role as James Bond, there is a speculation that he might portray the villain, aceshowbiz.com reports.

According to reports, the offer was made to Bardem last week, at around the same time when he received his Oscar nomination for best actor in "Biutiful".

The next Bond film will be directed by Sam Mendes(directed American Beauty,Road to Perdition, Revolutionary Road). Besides Craig, Judi Dench is also confirmed to return to the film. Rachel Weisz was recently rumoured to take the female lead role opposite Craig.

Very excited...

Finished watching "True Grit". Very disappointed. It didn't live up to the expectation set by the first half. The villain John Caney (Josh Brolin) is hyped throughout the film, but there is nothing much he has to do and Brolin gives a weak performance. He is dead in about 10 minutes into the screen.

Its over rated and has got 10 Oscar nominations including best picture and best director and its no way near Black Swan, Inception or 127 hrs. :bad:

Here is a list of some great (according to me) horror movies that I have watched.

Not in any particular order.............

The Blair witch project

The excorcist

Omen

Nightmare on elm street

4 Japanese movies (subtitles in English) Some were later remade in H'wood: The Ring 1 & 2, Dark Water, The grudge

The shining

Evil dead (really scared me when I was a kid)

Se7en..Mosamalla..
Complete disagreement!

China Town was a noir-masterpiece! Jack Nicholson's performance itself was enough to grade it as an unforgettable classic!

Seven was a cracker of a thriller like the genre can't any better! Classic in every sense - be it direction, acting, camera every single dept rocked to the core! Period!

Run Lola Run was another brilliant movie with completely refreshing narration that would envy even the Hollywood film makers!

I consider every one of u...I regard...But what to say....? Se7en is acclaimed world wide. I agree. It is considered as one of the best movies. I admire the direction, the performances, freeman and pit. But story just ok....Thats what i think. Please forgive me..

Psycho simply rocked. But not Se7en....

And also please bear with the fact that I am damn selfish enough to consider Mallu movies with softer heart...

RUn lola run. Now I disagree....Its just an average movie with brilliant picturisation and narration. But sorry, story is poor...

And China Town...Its old and can be compared with the then movies...Not todays. Its not a movie that lasts long. May be American people will tell different...

Two movies fasinate me even now with its making. One is Cinema Paradiso and the other is Turtles can fly

Dear friend, in movies when compared to other industries, Hollywood is nothing! If in terms of frames its the french, if in terms of totality its the italian, if in terms of freaks, its Japanese and Koreans, if in terms of thought it is Swedish and Russian....

I didnt watch many. Only a few. But I strongly feel it. HOLLYWOOD is NOTHING if we dare compare with other industries....

i agree with Alone's observation on Chinatown. While it's a template noir film and one of the best in the noir genre (if not the best!), i too believe it hasn't aged gracefully. It doesn't take anything away from the film though and the two master performances from jack nicholson and faye dunaway respectively.

Hitchinte rante randennam mathrame njan kantittulluu.. Psycho and Vertigo...I thrilled at Psycho and got opposite in Vertigo. Thereafter I didnt venture more. Anyway I am going for rear window...

I think, most of the comments Hitch movies receive(except Psycho) are just made up for petty show offs. I wondered, how a man had Psycho in credit could produce mere ordinary piece like Vertigo! It was well commended by a lot, however..

ANy way Thanks man...I am going for it

Same views on Vertigo....too overrated!

In Hitchcock movies, try "Rear Window", "Dial M For Murder" (Later remade as 'The Perfect Murder') and "North By Northwest" (which inspired Priyadarshan to make 'Hello My Dear Wrong Number')
