Surya's 25th film and Hari's 10th directorial venture Singam is surely an entertainer which can keep admirers of mass masala films engaged for two and a half hours.
The story has nothing new to tell, the same old police story which we have seeing for years. Surya is Dorai singam, sub inspector of police working in his own village nallore. He has all the goodness of village and courage of police.
The trouble starts when he questions some deeds Mayilvahanam (prakash raj), who is the leader of a real estate mafia and kidnapper. As a revenge Mayil vahanam transfers Dorai singam to Chennai city, where he 'reigns'. There starts the clash/fight between these and at last as usual Dorai singam succeeds in eliminating the villian.
Anushka plays the role of Kavya, who is the daughter of Mahalingam (nassar) a rich businessman. She comes as Dorai's lady love and keep viewers engaged through glamorous songs.
Surya is back with a bang as high voltage police officer. His punch dialogues, adrenaline pumping action sequences etc will definitely make enjoy. Prakash Raj is also good in usual villian role.
Music by Devisree Prasad is hummable. En idhayam, she stole my heart etc are picturised well too. The song 'kadhal vanthale' reminded me the song 'vaada mappilai' from villu. (that too composed by DSP).
Racy Direction, screenplay and editing can be pointed out as the positives in this movie. (These factors help to hide most of the illogical factors in the movie.)
Totally, Singam is an action packed family music entertainer which can entertain the fans of Surya and all mass masala film lovers.
verdict: roaring entertainer.
rating: 3/5
