double chankan
20th June 2009, 11:49 PM
Theatre: Calicut Kairali;4pm show
Status: Balcony tickets sold in black for 100/- FC 50%
Movie: Coming from a serial director i had couple of pre conceived notions about the movie (I had not read any user reviews)
1. Ladies would be able to relate to the stories easily
2. Tear jerker and slow
Half way through the movie i realised that my first assumption was totally wrong and by the end of the movie, my second assumption turned out partially right.
Storyline:
The movie revolves around the life of Vivek.
The other characters being his parents (who are mentally seperated), his friends and then his wife.
Vivek who just passes out of college, convinces his parents and well wishers to fulfill his dream of an early marriage and what happens to his family life makes up the rest of the story.
Performances:
Jayasurya did not have anything to do through the first half of the movie.
It was his comfort zone, playing the half dumb, pampered son.
He does bring down the house in laughter along with Suraj who plays the assistant to Vivek's dad.
In to the latter half of the movie, the movie turns serious and Jayasurya is tested. The test which he passes with at least a first class :)
Siddique and Rekha: Cake walk roles
Bhama: She does put in nice expressions on her face, but her dialogue delivery is a matter of concern. Looks cute and innocent at the same time.
Samvrutha: the bubbly of the friends gang, puts in a lively performance.
She is growing in to a good actress pretty fast, and man she looks sexy...:chey:
Suraj was the one who shouldered the comedy dept and it came out really well.
Script and Direction:
The theme of the movie is fairly interesting and the screenplay sets it up nicely till a major part of the movie, after which it loses direction and wanders.
The climax is quite a let down and illogical.
The director has kept the tag of "serial director" away for most part of the movie, but when it came to ending it on a high note he fails.
Summary:
Ivar vivahitharayal is a feel good movie targeted at the family audience laced with humor, at the same time ends with a climax that leaves much to be desired
BO Verdict:
Interestingly the family audience do not feel anything wrong with the latter half of the movie and the WOM is quite good.
If it holds steady even after the Big M movie releases then a super hit
else a HIT
