</o> ‘Rithu’ directed by Syamaprasad, revolves around three techie friends, sarath, sunny and varsha. They meet again after three years...have time and seasons made any change in their relationship..? ‘rithu’ is the answer..!!
<o>
</o><o></o>
Synopsis:
Sarath returns from U.S to join a new IT company. He wants his best friends from childhood time Varsha and Sunny to be with him in his new venture.
Without any hesitation both joins him in his new place. But soon Sarath realizes that the reunion didn’t bring anything special to him. Their friendship, bonding, love …all have changed a lot….

</o> Technical side:
Script and direction:
As usual Syamaprasad was good in his part and Rithu is a deviation from his usual approach. Also he was successful in playing with the subject, relationship. The film moves through the perspective of Sarath. His emotions and dreams are something which leads us to the heart of the film. He was mature enough to avoid cliché techie scenes which some directors think unavoidable (remember minnamminnikkootam).
Script by Joshua Newton needs special mention. The flow is maintained till the end. There were small problems in the firt half, but the second part was more enjoyable and touching for me..
Music by Rahulraj and frames from Shamdut gives the perfect mood for the film. Rahulraj’s songs like ‘pularumo’, ‘venal’ etc from this film can be considered as his career best till now.
Casting was also perfect. Nishan as Sarath did a wonderful work and Asif and Rima were cool and neat. M.G Sasi’s character (as Sarath’s brother) was also touching.
<o>

</o> Conclusion:
Rithu is not a master piece, but can be considered as a new generation cinema in Malayalam which deals with the untold emotions of young kerala. Without doubt we can salute the crew for this brave attempt, which will definitely pave way for more good works to follow.<o>

Surely the first multiplex movie aimed at a niche segment in malayalam?

From whatever I've learnt, Syamaprasad has not diluted the focus by trying to pander to a bigger audience by incorporating unwanted elements into it, or taken away stuff from it which otherwise are "taboo" in a strict family commercial movie in malayalam (condoms, etc)
