Desh bhakt

Asin Thottumkal is thankful for the way Akshay Kumar became her bodyguard during the recent Indo-Pak cricket match in Bangladesh. The actress says, “We had a great time watching the match live. In the box, Akki called me the most desh bhakt fan of all as I was cheering the loudest. We didn’t have to time meet any Indian or Pakistani players post the match, but we had our own fun with our gang, including Sajid Nadiadwala and Jacqueline Fernandez. When Aksha[b]y and I went to the ground, the crowd went crazy. They rushed towards us a[v]nd we were surrounded by screaming fans. Akshay literally became my bodyguard. [@]He totally covered me or I’d have been squashed! We had security but still it was c[S]razy. People were falling onto me in the rush and Akshay kept pushing them aw[S]ay. He held my hand and ensured that I was safe from the mob.”
Hmmm... maybe Akki can now do a Bodyguard sequel!

“Sajid Khan would lose his head about our friendship”

Jacqueline Fernandez on Housefull 2 and more
Tell us about your role in Housefull 2?
I play this girl who comes from a joint family and we hate the extended members of the family. My father wants me to marry a guy whom he thinks is great. We are basically competing with the extended family, where everyone tries to get their daughter married first. Unfortunately, we get stuck with con artists and that is how we all end up in this huge house and everyone is confused because all the con artists have the same name, Jolly. The film is a no-brainer. To tell you the truth, even I didn’t understand the story.
I had no narration, no idea about the role. There are certain films you just want to be part of. I was called to be paired opposite John Abraham, at par with Asin. When I got the call, I was, like, “Yes! Yes! I’m doing the film.”
Every day, when I went to the sets, I didn’t know what my scenes were. I didn’t know what I was doing. I am now slowly understanding the plot.
Your first two films were with Riteish Deshmukh. And then in Houseful too, you did an item song with Riteish. Now Housefull 2 again features you both. But he’s not cast opposite you…
I know! I miss Riteish. In fact, I have got offers where people come up to me and say, “Wehttp://www.boxofficeindia.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/jacqueline-200x300.jpg (http://www.boxofficeindia.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/jacqueline.jpg) are thinking of casting you and Riteish together in the film…” I’m actually haunting Riteish!
What was it like working with John Abraham?
He’s very cool to work with. He’s got an intelligent sense of humour. He also has a lot of knowledge. Like whenever we would play word games on the sets, he would always win. And none of us expected that.
What was it like working with the other girls in the film?
I know Zarine Khan and Shazahn Padamsee on a social level. But Asin was a surprise. She is very chilled out and down to earth. My first scene was with her, where we were supposed to have a cat fight. I didn’t know how to do it, I was so doubtful and reserved. Things like.. should I touch her or not kept cropping up in my mind. But thankfully, it went really smoothly.
In fact, Sajid (Khan) would lose his head about our friendship. He really had to struggle to make us fight in the film since she and I would end up giggling on most occasions.
What is the difference between Sajid Khan the director and Sajid Khan the person?
No difference. He is very honest, not afraid of the truth and very dignified. There is no other side to him. Also, he never influences my decision when I choose a film. It is very important that I take my own decisions.
http://www.boxofficeindia.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Jacqueline-Fernandez..1-200x300.jpg (http://www.boxofficeindia.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Jacqueline-Fernandez..1.jpg)You entered the industry with a ‘sweet image’ in Aladdin and Jaane Kaha Se Ayi Hai. Then you changed your image with Murder 2. Now you are back to being this ‘sweet girl’. Was that deliberate?
We are in a very competitive industry and it is very important to have that shock value in terms of a film or a role. I think the audience gets bored very easily and it is therefore important to keep them guessing. Murder 2 was out of my comfort zone. I was very hesitant about the film. I didn’t know how people would take it, whether people back home would like it or not. I just thought I had the chance to take a risk. So I took it, hoping it would pay off. And I think it did.
But the things didn’t go down very well with Mukesh Bhatt after you opted out of Raaz 3?
I signed Raaz 3 even before Murder 2 had released and neither the role nor the character had been discussed. The minute we began discussing these things, it was clear we weren’t on the same page. And the last thing you want to do is something you aren’t comfortable with. It was very mutual and Mukesh Bhatt is the kind of person who would say, “If you’re not comfortable, don’t do it. I’ll find someone else.” I knew I would have faced some problem at some point while of the film. So I thought of stepping out. Regardless of what the media said, I know that if I ever bump into him again, he would welcome me with open arms and invite me to a cup of tea or coffee. I owe him a lot.
Were you approached for Krissh 3?
I was signed on for the film. It was just bad luck that I couldn’t juggle my dates. I was going to work on Murder 2, Krissh 3 and Housefull 2. All the films had an international crew and everyone was trying to work out dates. I had to take a tough call and I opted out of the film. It was sheer bad luck.
The reports about me not wanting to do the film because of a kissing scene or wearing revealing clothes are not true. It is a family film.

NGO to file PIL against makers of Housefull 2

These days, we often see objections being raised against certain scenes or songs in upcoming films. The latest to be hit is the upcoming Sajid Nadiadwala's Housefull 2. Reportedly, the Maharashtra wing of the NGO, Bharatiya Bhrashtachar Nivaran Sanstha has raised objections against the item song, 'Anarkali Disco Chali... '

The reason behind this objection is that the NGO feels the line, 'Oye hoye chod chaad ke apne Saleem ki gali, Anarkali disco chali... ' from the song could have a negative impact on children as it spreads disinformation and distorts history. The Maharashtra President of the NGO, Sameer Rai, says that Saleem, according to the Indian history, is the son of Mughal emperor Akbar, while the song makes you wonder why Saleem stayed in a gali (passage) or why Anarkali (Saleem's love interest according to history) went to a disco.

To further his objection, Sameer plans to file a PIL against the song on Monday, once the court opens after a three-day break.

Shreyas won 200 pounds during Housefull 2 shoot

Shooting for Sajid Khan's Housefull 2 has proved to be lucky for Shreyas Talpade. While shooting for the film in London, Shreyas won 200 pounds in a lucky draw.

The cast and crew of the film played a lucky draw, wherein every member from the unit had to contribute a certain amount and the one whose name was pulled out would win the entire booty. Director Sajid Khan was asked to pull out the name of the lucky winner and Shreyas's name was on the chit.

On his win, an ecstatic Shreyas hugged his co-star Riteish Deshmukh and announced, "This money goes towards the party for the unit."

No bikini scene in Housefull2: Asin

Asin claims that Housefull2 is a complete family entertainer.

Sajid Khan’s last film Housefull featured three hotties Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone and Jiah Khan in bikinis. This time around one expected the filmmaker to add more skin-show and glam to the sequel but Sajid has acted otherwise. He has made Housefull2 a pure family entertainer.

Unlike his earlier film, Housefull2 will be a fun, family drama with no skin show.
We spoke to Housefull 2 lead actress Asin who confirmed that there is indeed no bikini scene in the film.

Asin said, “There’s no bikini scene, at least not this time. We were not required to wear a two-piece because the story didn’t demand it at all. None of us will be seen in a bikini. The movie is more catered to family audiences than the first one was.”

Aisn added, “Housefull2 is all about fathers and daughters, and friendship between four guys. It would be weird for a girl to be seen wearing a bikini in front of her dad. People assumed that the movie would have a bikini scene considering the fact that first Houseful had a few of those. But no, it’s not happening.”

"I play a nain sukh character in Housefull 2" - Akshay Kumar

http://images.bollywoodhungama.com/img/feature/12/mar/akshaykumarmar1.jpg He is an actor who needs no introduction. A deadly mix of good looks, charm and talent, he is extremely grounded despite being a superstar. Having started out as an action hero nearly two decades ago, Akshay Kumar gained popularity for his romantic and comic roles as well.

The actor with an impeccable comic timing kick starts 2012 with Housefull 2, the sequel to 2010's rib tickling comedy Housefull. Bollywood Hungama's Divya Rajani caught up with Akshay Kumar at his swanky Juhu residence, where the actor in his usual jovial mode spoke about his upcoming films, his remuneration, the secret of his fit body and more.

Tell us about your upcoming film Housefull 2.
The film is about the confusion that takes place in one house when so many people come there that it becomes houseful. There is too much happening. The reason why everybody comes to the house and why all the confusion takes place is because Riteish Deshmukh's character wants to get married and his father is a very strict man. And just to get him married, all the confusion starts.

What is your role in Housefull 2?
I find it really difficult to describe my character in Housefull, my character is very similar to the characters Ranjeet used to play in olden days, but I don't have his rapist side. My character is a nain sukh, meaning he will only stare at a girl, he won't touch her but will stare at her from the moment he sees her enter the room till she leaves the room.

Does Ranjeet know that you play a character modeled on him?
Yes, he does. Ranjeet plays my father in the film, so it is natural that I have some of his traits.

http://images.bollywoodhungama.com/img/feature/12/mar/akshaykumarmar2.jpg Is Housefull 2 also a slap stick comedy like Housefull?
Yes, it is. There is one scene in the film, where I take my girlfriend to meet my father, played by Ranjeet, and I say "Daddy inse mileye", so he checks the girl out not knowing that she is my girlfriend, rubs his chest and says, "Beauty Beauty Beauty" then I say "Yeh meri girlfriend, aapki hone wali bahu hai" so he says, "Oh! Beti Beti Beti." So from beauty she becomes beti. Also he plays a therapist in the film, but on the signboard there is a gap in the spelling and it is written as 'The rapist', so no one comes to him and he keeps wondering why. Even though it is a slapstick comedy, it is a story-driven film.

In Housefull you had scene with a tiger, so what there in this film?
Housefull 2 has a crocodile. I have a fight with the crocodile.

How is Housefull 2 different from Houseful?
The cast is different, the story line is different otherwise it's all about one house.

Tell us something about you so-star Asin.
She is beautiful and very professional.

This is your third film with Sajid Khan, how much do you feel has he improved as a director?
There is no difference in him. I think he should not improve; he should just be the way that he is. He works with his instincts, he doesn't go about taking shots as per the book, and he goes by the way he wants to do it. He keeps saying that his comedy is what comes from within. He tweaks the dialogues even while we are shooting. If you sit with him, he can make you laugh for 24 hours.

But he said that he has matured.
(Laughs) When you say I have become mature is another sign of immaturity. His strength is that he is immature. And because he is immature and full of fun, frolic and humour, it can be shown in his work.

http://images.bollywoodhungama.com/img/feature/12/mar/akshaykumarmar3.jpg You said that Sajid Khan improvises the dialogues on the sets, does that happen very often?
Yes, we did have dialogues but we also have improvement on the sets. There are some directors like Neeraj Pandey (director of Akshay's next Special Chabbis) and Milan Luthria, who don't want you to think about the character and come because if you think and come and they ask you to do the role in a particular way then there is a clash. So it is better that without thinking you just go with the script. Just know your dialogues and lines and come on the sets and these directors act and show you how that scene is to be performed. There is no space for improvisation in their scenes. Directors like Neeraj and Milan do all the homework and just expect you to come on the sets and perform. On the other hand, Sajid, Raj Kumar Santoshi and Mahesh Bhatt come from that school of improvisation. I prefer both.

When do you start shooting for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2?
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 is going to start in August.

The posters of Rowdy Rathore look very interesting.
Well, thank you very much. All I can say is that it is my comeback in action. I am returning to action films after 6 years with Rowdy Rathore. I am very excited about that film in fact, I have just come from the dubbing the trailer of Rowdy Rathore.

Why did Rowdy Rathore get preponed?
That is something UTV will be able to answer better.

Rowdy Rathore is the remake of Telugu film Vikramarkudu and there is also Bengali remake called Bikram Singha being made, so do you feel that will decrease your audience for the film?
I hope the Bengali remake is not called 'Rowdy Banerjee' (laughs), but it is a nice title. I don't think that my film's audience will decrease. I have played the role my own way; I have not even seen the Telugu version. I did what came naturally to me.

How is Prabhudeva as a director?
Technically he is an excellent director, technicality is his specialty. He gives you space to improvise and he is very quiet. Waise maine dekha hai key yeh Southwale zyada baat nahi karte.

http://images.bollywoodhungama.com/img/feature/12/mar/akshaykumarmar4.jpg How excited are you for your first 3D film Joker?
I am very excited and am looking forward to see the result.

Are you really happy with the outcome of Joker because some media reports suggest the other way?
I have not seen the film yet. There is a certain section of the media that just writes whatever comes to their mind. Two weeks back someone wrote that I am getting divorced and now they are writing that my wife is expecting another child. I have already sent a legal notice to that publication.

After Dabangg, Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in both your films Rowdy Rathore and Joker.
Sonakshi Sinha is a wonderful, she is beautiful, she is professional and she has a great memory when it comes to learning lines. She has done a wonderful job in both the films.

It is said that you recommended Kajal Aggarwal for Special Chabbis.
That is not true. I don't get into casting. That was very much the director's call.

What are you more comfortable doing action or comedy?
I enjoy action the most, the hardest part is comedy. It is very difficult to make people laugh.

You also have a film called Oh My God, which you are producing.
Oh My God is my first production with my partner Ashwini Yardi under the banner Grazing Goat Pictures. I am just producing the film not acting in it.

You have two production houses, Hari Om Productions and Grazing Goat. How involved are you with your production houses?
I don't handle the production aspect of my films. My partner Ashwini handles everything; she is a one man show. Hari Om Production is handled by someone else. I just put in my money but the work is done by someone else.

http://images.bollywoodhungama.com/img/feature/12/mar/akshaykumarmar5.jpg Why did you get into production?
See if a producer wants to sign me then it becomes difficult to tell him what figure I want to charge. Sometimes the money you demand may be too much or too less according to the budget of the film. The actor's fee depends upon the film, whether you want to make a big budget or on a small budget film. So instead of becoming a burden on the film, I decided to make the film on my own and then my remuneration becomes zero since I can't charge myself. Then once the film is made and released I get paid according to the profits. Sometimes if the film does really well then you can make money of more than two films in just one and sometimes you make less. But in such a case the film doesn't flop as the budget on which you have made the film is easily recovered as what really kills the film is the actor's cost. Now if you remove the cost, make it zero and become the producer yourself, the exhibitors, distributors and theatre owners don't make a loss.

Do flops bother you?
Nothing like that, hits and flops keep coming. I don't cope with flops, I don't do anything about that, I just work harder on my next film. Seven years back I had delivered 14 flops together, Big deal! You just keep on working. It is a fact of life that every human being, be it a cricketer like Sachin Tendulkar, or any actor or student or politician, everyone has to go through highs and lows of life. Even a king has to go through that. If one understands that then there is no problem in life. All these films are my home productions, so I must have made less money that is it, no one else has had to bear the brunt.

You don't have a film that has crossed the Rs.100 crore benchmark, does that bother you?
See every year that benchmark is going to keep on breaking, Today it is 100 crores, tomorrow it will be 200 crores and one day if I am in the industry for 5 years believe me 400 crores will also look small. I was the first actor to come till 70-80 crores with Singh Is Kinng then that record got broken and the benchmark became 100 crores, then 120 crores, the records will keep on breaking and this is my challenge that by 5 years 400 crores all India release theatrical will happen.

You have completed 20 years in the industry and acted in over 90 films, which of your films are your favourites?
Many films like Sangharsh, Janwaar, Khakhee and Dhadkhan. I have loved Rowdy Rathore, I have really enjoyed it. Wohi tofaan chal raha hai aur wahi barish aa rahi hai.

What is your son Aarav's opinion on your films?
He is too young, my son still watches Tom and Jerry. I want my son to be away from films, I want him to enjoy his childhood, I want him to go play football, go play on the beach and enjoy life.

http://images.bollywoodhungama.com/img/feature/12/mar/akshaykumarmar6.jpg Despite being in the industry for so long you have never been tagged as a party animal, how is that?
I sleep early and get up early, I don't really enjoy partying. I don't say that it is bad to party but I just don't enjoy it. I don't get it as to why they play such loud music. If I am going to wish someone for their wedding or birthday then I wish them and come out. You won't believe but by 9 o'clock I am gone. I like to sleep early; I am a guy who sleeps by 9-9:30 and get up by 4-4:30 in the morning. Twinkle also sleeps by quarter to nine. We both like to sleep early and get up early. Life becomes very calm if your partner sleeps at the same time. I have done photo sessions at 4:30-5 in the morning and lot of heroines curse me because of that.

You have the fittest body in the industry, how do you maintain it.
I play sports like volleyball, swimming, I go trekking, and rock climbing and I love water sports. Another thing which is a must is desi ghee, because it is very healthy. Your body needs that kind of nourishment especially your bones and joints. My grandmother, who passed away last year, was alive till 98 and used to have 2 spoonfuls of ghee every day. It is not fattening, it is only fattening if you eat ghee and don't exercise.

Now days a lot of youngsters are experiencing health problems due to excessive work outs. What is you take on that?
The most important thing that people don't concentrate on is warm up and after finishing your workout, cooling down. This is something 99 percent of the people avoid as they think that the real thing is exercise. But coolings down is very important, when you finish your exercise; you have to give your body ten minutes to cool down because that is the time when your nerves starts opening so you have to relax them. Another problem is lot of people take steroids, powders and myoplex. Time has gone when man used to believe in mothers' home cooked food, now they all depend on myoplex as it is the shortcut and the easiest way to make a body. People believe in dieting, you can diet but see to it that you finish your dinner before 6 in the evening. Eat whatever you want to eat, but eating after that is useless. After 6:30-7 whatever you are eating is slow poison.

Shazahn happy to be 'romantically paired'

http://images.bollywoodhungama.com/img/feature/12/mar/shazahnpad01.jpg If one thought that Shazahn Padamsee had enforced restrictions on herself when it came to her presentation on the big screen then well, as the cliched goes, it was pretty much the demand of the script. That's because as far as her third Bollywood outing Housefull 2 is concerned, the pretty girl promises that there would be a new Shazahn that would be seen on the big screen.

"Shazahn is shedding the plain Jane image that she has gathered over the years, courtesy Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year and Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji", says a close associate, "She had done Rocket Singh... since it was a Yash Raj film, had Shimit Amin of Chak De India fame as the director and most importantly featured her opposite Ranbir. However, she had to play a simple girl next door in the film which meant being quintessentially filmy was out of question. Then Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji was a realistic set up where she had Ajay Devgn opposite her and she had to be dressed in formals throughout."

All of this meant that her glamorous side was never on display which was quite a pity for not just her fans but even Shazahn since in real life; she is comfortable wearing short dresses and chic Western outfits.

"This would be pretty much visible in Housefull 2 where director Sajid Khan has ensured that each of his leading ladies play up to their strengths and wear the kind of dresses that present them as true blue heroines", a source from the production house adds.

This means that while there would be a new Asin, Jacqueline and Zareen that one would see on screen, it is the new kid on the block, Shazahn, who would be throwing a few surprises as well.

Agrees Shazahn, "See, I was a little uncertain while I was doing Rocket Singh... though Dil Toh... was great fun. June Pinto will always be a part of me since I played a girl who was just me. Also, that film gave me so much and I grew along with it. Thanks to that film, I got Housefull 2."

Eager to grab the opportunity, she changed her entire look, persona and attire for this Sajid Nadiadwala produced film.

"It isn't like Dil Toh Bachcha... or Rocket Singh...; it is a far more glamorous role. Moreover there are songs and other stuff that make it my first full fledged commercial film. In none of my earlier two films I was romantically paired per se with my co-stars. However in Housefull 2, I am happy to be pitched as a heroine. Now I want to see how audience reacts to me."

Confident ’Housefull 2’ will be a blockbuster: Sajid Khan

Indian Bollywood actor John Abraham (L) poses with director Sajid Khan during the promotion for the forthcoming Hindi film Housefull 2 in Mumbai.
Mumbai: Director Sajid Khan, whose third directorial venture "Housefull 2" is ready to hit the screens, says he is confident the film will be a blockbuster as he makes films by placing himself in the audience's seat.

"Only a good film will work. If my film is not good then it will not work beyond Monday. But I can say it with a lot of confidence that this film ('Housefull 2') is a blockbuster. I am not saying this because this is my film but because I have made this film according to the audience. Every film I make, I make it as an audience," the 40-year-old said here at a promotional event for "Housefull 2".

Sajid says it's the family audiences that make a film a hit.

"The day my film does not work, then no matter how many tie ups I do, it will not work at all. It will work when you people go and watch it with your family," he said.

The cast of the film, releasing April 6, is known as 'dirty dozen' and it comprises Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade, Shazahn Padamsee, Jacqueline Fernandez, Asin Thottumkal, Zarine Khan, Boman Irani, Mithun Chakraborty, Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.

Sajid says he doesn't measure his film's success on the basis of box office collection or reviews, rather by the audiences' reaction.

"Quite honestly, success doesn't mean five star rating nor does it mean box-office collection. I think all the people on the stage have faced failure and success at some point of time in their career.

"I think the most important thing in life is getting the love and acceptance of the audience. It does not always come with success. It comes with the connection of the big screen and the audience. For me, that connection is important even if I am behind the camera. So that is success for me and not reviews, awards and collections," he added.

Housefull 2: Do U Know
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/photo/5777246.cmsSee photo

Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the singer who was once hailed as the voice (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/The-Voice) of Shah Rukh Khan has filed a case in the Bombay High Court against T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar, music composers Sajid-Wajid and producer Sajid Nadiadwala. He has accused them of lifting a tune from his album Tere Bina that released about a decade ago and using it in one of the songs in the upcoming film Housefull 2 (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Housefull-2) - The Dirty Dozen.

According to Abhijeet, the song Do You Know in Housefull 2, has the same theme melody as his song Baje Jo Bansi Thama Karo. However, the singer stated that he has no intentions of stalling the release of the movie unlike what composer Ram Sampath did before the release of Krazzy 4.

To Mumbai Mirror, Abhijeet said, "This is about the pain and agony. They (music composers Sajid-Wajid) haven't copied the song. They have simply used the lead track of my composition some 30 times in the number. They are such good music directors, they could have simply asked me. I would have readily agreed."

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who will miss the premiere of Housefull 2 since he has to be present at court for the hearing was equally outraged by Abhijeet's allegation. "It comes as a big surprise and he has sung so many songs for me. I guess (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Guess) filing court cases have become a common habit before a film's release. We are a part of the same fraternity and this thing could have been sorted out in a more amicable manner. What is the point of spoiling things?""said Nadiadwala.

Abhijeet, on the other hand, believes that things have already been spoilt. "I don't want money or fame. I don't want them to give me credit. Neither do I intend to stop the release of the film. Bahut log copy karte hain. But itni besharmi badh gayi hai. They can simply meet me and apologise. I am fine with that. But these people need to be punished," Abhijeet told Mirror angrily.

Full house for Housefull 2

The gala premiere of producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 2 is all set to be held at Resort World Sentosa (RWS), Singapore, on April 3. Nadiadwala’s special affinity to the Universal Studios situated there inspired him to choose it as the premiere venue. The producer, who is busy with the promotions of the film, said, “I have shot here in the past and I am glad that Housefull 2, is being showcased at the RWS destination. What is even more heartening, is that the first show has been booked completely and is housefull.”
Ms Andrea Teo, Vice President of Entertainment, Resorts World Sentosa, said, “It is our natural synergy with movies that has led us to our collaboration with Bollywood. And we are excited to host the world premiere of Housefull 2.”
In fact, at least 500 Indians settled in Hong Kong have already booked passes and will be specially flying down for the event in Singapore.
Interestingly, event companies from Dubai, Cape Town, Singapore and London had made lucrative offers to host the global premiere of the film. “I chose Singapore because it was the ideal location,” smiled Nadiadwala.

Housefull 2 Set For A Grand Start
Tuesday 3rd April 2012 10.00 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Housefull 2 is likely to get the second quarter and the summer season off too a grand start with huge first day numbers.

Like Agneepath the other big opener of the year, Housefull 2 has also has not had huge promotion like the biggies of last year but the promos and hit music have emerged as a big plus for the film. The promos and music have ensured a big single screen audience which 95% of the films releases fail to do.

Another huge plus is that Friday is a holiday so even if the promotion is not really heavy it makes little difference as there is a much larger audience awaiting a film on a holiday.

The top opening days are by Agneepath (21.75 Crore) and Bodyguard (20.75 crore) on Republic Day holiday and Eid holiday respectively but Housefull 2 may not touch those numbers as Good Friday is not as big period as Republic Day, Diwali, Eid etc though it should beat all other opening day numbers.

Actually it will be Housefull 2 that will determine how big of a holiday Good Friday is as a major film has not been released on this day since holidays started making a big difference in collections.

Housefull 2 song lifted from his album claims Abhijeet

Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is one unhappy man these days because he claims that the track 'Do You Know' from Housefull 2 is a (partial) lift of his earlier hit single 'Mujhe Kanhaiyya Kaha Karo'. That's the reason why, he has now filed a case in the Bombay High Court against T-Series' owner Bhushan Kumar, the film's music composers Sajid-Wajid and producer Sajid Nadiadwala, accusing them of lifting portions from his song from his 2003 album 'Tere Bina'.

Talking about this issue, Abhijeet said that 'Tere Bina' was one of T-Series' biggest albums some nine years ago. What has really upset him to no end is the fact that, while it took him a whole 10 days to compose the song, Sajid-Wajid have lifted the song's theme melody and hurriedly pasted it in their song! He also added that while Sajid-Wajid are not denying it, instead (they) are asking him to sit down and talk about it! In the same breath, he now wants a law to be implemented over lifting any composers' tunes. He added that if he loses this battle (w.r.t. Housefull 2), he will go to the highest authority no matter how much money, time and effort goes into it. He is aware that he is fighting a lone battle and that no one from the fraternity is supporting him. At the same time, he is firm that that if he wins, he will fight for the music fraternity.

Meanwhile, Housefull 2's producer Sajid Nadiadwala said that he got the court notice on Saturday and that he was really surprised as nobody told him anything about it before. He also added that, if he had known about the issue before hand, he would have made Sajid-Wajid sit down with Abhijeet and sort it out. But he doesn't want sit idle on this issue because he reasons that every time he is ready to release a film, somebody lands up filing a case. He also raised a question that, considering that Housefull 2's music was released on February 10, why didn't Abhijeet file a case before then. In order to clear the mess, Sajid Nadiadwala has written a letter to the Producers' Association about how this has become a regular thing and how it should be avoided.

Censors clear Housefull 2 for release

We've all heard of films running into trouble with the censor board for various reasons. However the upcoming Sajid Khan film produced by Sajid Nadiadwala - Housefull 2 ran into a spot of trouble when a few animal activists urged the censor board not to approve the film, as they were unsure if the producers had acquired the correct permissions to shoot with animals in the film.

Bollywood Hungama has since learnt that all the requisite permissions were in place and the premiere and the release will go ahead as planned. Apparently since the scenes were shot in London the requisite permissions had been obtained from the board there, apart from the Animal Welfare Board in Chennai.

With the matter now closed Housefull 2 will release as scheduled on this Friday (April 6) with its Singapore premiere taking place today.

Bumper booking at cinemas
- HOUSeFULL 2 advance ticket sale starts with a bang

AMIT BHELARI http://www.telegraphindia.com/1120404/images/4bhrhousefull.jpg Cinegoers queue up for HOUSeFULL 2 advance tickets at Regent on Tuesday. Picture by Nagendra Kumar Singh
If Housefull was total madness, HOUSeFULL 2-The Dirty Dozen promises to be even more bizarre. Advance ticket bookings in Patna suggest cinegoers are expecting another laughter riot from director Sajid Khan. The film hits theatres on Friday.

The sequel to the 2010 blockbuster received a good response on the first day of its advance ticket booking on Tuesday. Film lovers poured in at the theatres for tickets of the film that promises wholesome entertainment.

As many as 18 shows of the film would be screened in three theatres in Patna.

To make the hearty comedy also lighter on the pocket, Regent has slashed the ticket rates. The club ticket, which was earlier available for Rs 150, will now cost Rs 130. Similarly, rates have been cut down for the dress circle from Rs 120 to Rs 100 and tickets for the rear stall will now cost Rs 60 instead of Rs 80.

Asked about the reason behind revising the rates, Regent owner Suman Kumar Sinha said: “The theatre is for all and we care for our visitors. A theatre should not be restricted to the upper class. Everyone should be able to enjoy the film.”

He added: “We have a lot of expectation from the film. After a long time Bollywood has come up with an action-comedy. Housefull 2 is expected to pull more crowds as it has 12 unique characters. It would be more fun.”

Cinegoers, on the other hand, are counting days to April 6. The item song, Anarkali disco chali, performed by Malaika Arora Khan has certainly raised audience’s interest.

“I just want to see Munni dance on the big screen again. After Munni, Anarkali is certainly a class act,” said Rupak Kumar, a resident of Boring Canal Road.

Housefull 2 To Release On 2700 Screens

Thursday 5th April 2012 11.00 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Housefull 2 is likely to get a 2700 screen approx release which will be amongst the biggest of all times and the biggest release this year. Only Bodyguard and Ra.One have had bigger releases as far as Hindi films are concerned. Don 2 had a similar release though went to around 3000 screens if its Tamil and Telugu versions are included.

Agneepath released earlier this year was on around 2650 screens and although that film like Housefull 2 also had a running time of 150 minutes plus it lost out in screens in West Bengal due to the release of a major Bengali film on the same day.

The Mumbai circuit will see the film hit 900 screens on close to 600 theatres.

"I am Wicked Sunny" - Akshay Kumar on Housefull 2

One of the most memorable characters enacted by Akshay Kumar in the last few years has been that of 'Wicked Sunny' in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. While he has stayed on to be a permanent fixture in almost all films produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, it was time to take the 'panauti' route in Housefull. Now that director Sajid Khan is returning with Housefull 2, Akshay is happy playing to the gallery all over again and promises that it is time to get wicked and naughty all over again. In Part I of this exclusive conversation, Akshay talks about the film, his return with John after Desi Boyz and the true story behind four Jollys.

In Housefull, you were presented in a very 'non-Akshay' avtar. Gone was the flamboyance and in came the 'panauti' characterisation which was subtle yet effective. How has the transformation been in Housefull 2? Do we see a different Akshay on play this time around?
Personally, regardless of how much I enjoyed playing a 'panauti' in the first Housefull, I have really gone mad having fun with everyone on the sets of Housefull 2. I am playing this mischievous 'Lady Loving' lad in the sequel. I am Wicked Sunny. I begin penniless in a run down old shaggy trailer van and then supposedly become a billionaire's son overnight.

And what happens next?
Well, from being a big time loser to a small time bum to a rich kid, I now have the most interesting wardrobe that you can imagine (smiles). I am what you call a loveable letch who is innocently dirty, wicked but sweet. I am the unspoken dark side of every man. So ladies, don't be offended, just be titillated (winks).

Talking about ladies then well, there are quite a few beauties around, right from Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shazahn Padamsee and Zareen Khan filling the frames. Guess it was one house full of them around all the Jollys, which means lots of fun and vibrancy all around?
Oh yes, these are what I call the poor unfortunate souls of the innocent ladies of Housefull 2 (smiles). They were tortured, picked on, poked, prodded & laughed at and I think even dropped once or twice! However we made their Housefull 2 adventure a seriously memorable one. We took great care of them as well and made them feel like Princesses every time they entered the set. What happened next was nothing far from mischievous; after all, what more could they ask from the Dirty Dozen!

An integral part of this 'dirty dozen' is John Abraham with whom you recently did Desi Boyz.
John is the softest lone ranger in the industry. He is loved and looked after by everyone. When he walks into a room, he can make everyone's teeth ache with his sweetness and humble charm. I love him. I wish we could spend more time together. There is so much respect between us that we spend half our time accommodating each other than anything else.

http://images.bollywoodhungama.com/img/feature/12/apr/akshay2.jpg Seems like the camaraderie is pretty much on display all over again with Housefull 2?
I think we looked better than ever together in Desi Boyz and I couldn't be happier that he is in Housefull 2 with us. It's a John that no-one has ever seen before. Well, watch out for him, that's all I can say.

Coming to the core of the film, it is apparent that the film is about four Jollys and the mistaken identities. However from the sheer plot perspective what really is happening? One doesn't expect you to reveal the twist in the tale but can you give some idea at least of what really is happening in this house?
Good lord, where to start (sighs with a smile). Well, these four boys are high school buddies. I & John have a massive fight that tears us apart over a chick that never deserved his love. Years later our mates - Riteish and Shreyas - are having girl trouble and call on us for help. Basically we all need to pretend that we are Mithun Dada's son, who by the way is a billionaire. We all then fall in love with daughters of rival brothers who are fighting over superiority.

Go on...
So one minute I am playing a bum who lives in a trailer van and then next, I am playing the part of a billionaire's son, when actually I am working as his butler. Also, to keep Rishiji & Randhirji in the dark while playing their son-in-laws is like finding a needle in a hay-stack. It is challenging, practically impossible, but a dare that a man can never refuse. Now there is this confusion of all of us trying to marry the girl of our dreams while saving our best friend Riteish's love marriage.

Housefull 2 review:Too many actors spoil ‘Housefull 2’

“Housefull2” lived up to my expectations – of being a despicable film that boasts of garish performances, a mediocre, yet confusing script, and some seriously inane lines, peppered with humdrum Bollywood disco songs and twists.

It’s the tale of how two greedy brothers, who try to rope in UK’s (“Uttarakand?”) Richie Rich, aka Jolly, for their gorgeous girls, gets entangled in a chaotic case of mistaken identity. While Jolly tries to use the circumstances to help out his friend Jai and in turn play out his own romance with ladylove JLo. And, cashing in on this situation is best friends-turned-enemies Max and Sunny.

It’s a classic example of how too many actors can spoil a movie.

And, that’s exactly what happens when a director huddles every known actor pal, acquaintance, girlfriend, family friend, uncles, aunts, and even pets into one film.

The audacious trailers were a clear indicator, but there was a slim chance that even star kids, who’ve turned directors overnight due to their family clout, might spring a surprise and silence finicky critics, like me. Alas, that’s still far from being true.

So, “Housefull2”, which is supposedly a sequel to Sajid’s “Housefull” has absolutely no relation, barring the name, with the first movie. Then, it’s not a sequel, right? But, no one really cares. Either you think Sajid is incapable of deriving an explanation for such an absurdity, or you are just indifferent to it.

But that’s the least of the problems with “Housefull2”.

It glorifies nothing but buffoonery, forcing us to baulk at how Sajid could reduce stalwart performers like Rishi and Randhir Kapoor into an infuriating set of warring brothers, mimicking their real life woes by using their nicknames Chintu and Dabboo. They’re left to display their screechy, whimsical personalities without a breather, leaving us rather exhausted.

Of the senior actors, it’s Mithun Chakraborty (JD/Jagga Daaku) and Boman Irani (Batook Patel), who get away slightly unharmed, but a silly tiff over a pouty item girl Anarkali (Malaika Arora-Khan) does damage their reputation immeasurably. Even, the infamous, lecherous Ranjeet gets to play a “the-rapist”, but the jokes on him are far from funny.

The ladies – Asin (Heena), Jacqueline Fernandez (Bobby), Zarine Khan (JLo) and Shahzhn Padamsee (Parul) – don’t have much to do but parade their well-toned bodies and pretty faces, which they do, in abundance, but they lack the charm of their Btown contemporaries, making this bunch very lackluster.

The men – Akshay Kumar (Sunny), John Abraham (Max), Riteish Deshmukh (Jolly/Jalwa), Shreyas Talpade (Jai) – prance, claw, run, jump, hide, kick and do innumerable acrobatic stunts to keep their characters alive and us, exasperated. Shreyas and Riteish appear more genuine and far more talented that their beefy counterparts, who resort to trivial gimmicks and pretty pouts to stay afloat.

Chunky Pandey (Aakhri Pasta) and Johnny Lever (JD’s sidekick) are appalling and deserve a tight spanking. Their exclusion would’ve made this journey a little bit more tolerable.

Writers Sajid (not Khan) and Farhad pen lines in rhymes, which is endearing at the beginning, but turn infuriatingly painful over the 2 hour-48 minute ordeal.

“Jolly meet Dolly, let’s play Holi!” and “Why don’t you choose C, because long time no see”, being just a few examples of the countless, inane play of words.

The story is hackneyed, and fails to tickle us anymore. Surely Sajid should’ve known better than to allow best bud/producer Sajid Nadiawala to write the story, and rope in not one, but three others – Tushar Hiranandani, Farhad and Sajid (not Khan) – to help him with the screenplay, leaving the script utterly cluttered.

The movie is also guilty of lifting funny scenes from Hollywood flick. The tennis scene between John and Randhir is a straight copy from the 1999 Sharon Stone-starrer “The Muse”.

Just when we started believing, after watching movies like “Kahaani”, that Bollywood had upstaged its reputation of making sensible cinema, there comes movies like these that take you back to the stone ages.

Now, it’d be unfair to expect so much from a director, who has to his credit a Hollywood lift-off of “Three Men and a Baby” titled “Heyy Babyy”, another deplorable comedy “Housefull” and a short part in “Darna Zaroori Hai”, but if he’s going about town proclaiming he’s got the talent, then the least he can do is prove that assertion.

So, if nothing else, I’m quite sure this movie won’t play “House Full” in the cinemas.

Review of Housefull 2 delayed, as director gets jittery

Sorry folks there would be no review of Housefull 2 tonight as there has been no special screening of Housefull 2 for media. The two film old director Sajid Khan, was gearing up for his latest film which is a sequel to Housefull, but according to industry sources Khan had the jitters since he is not hopeful of a “fantastic” initial at the box office.
He feared that having a special show of the film for the media would lead to critics tweeting about the film in advance garnering negative publicity. All those who have had a sneak preview divulge that despite multi-star cast, the film has forced humour that don’t necessarily lead to funny and laughable situations. Earlier, Sajid Khan’s both films Hey Baby and Housefull garnered good business at the box office. But he feels that Hindi films are not for the critics. Je is reported to have said, “Critics never rate any blockbuster well. There are four films which have crossed 100 crores. I am not counting Agneepath which has just released this year. All those films were run down by the critics.”
Looks like Khan is afraid of getting negative feedback and hence avoided organizing a preview for the critics of the country. He asked, “Who is more important, Hindi films are not made for critics, it is made for worldwide Hindi film watching audience. In the true sense Housefull 2 is a Hindi film.” To trash all negative publicity of his film, Sajid said he was quite confident Housefull 2 would do well and said audiences would want to see the film three to four times. Sajid said, “The beauty of the film is that you will want to see it three to four times. I hope the film does great business at the box office and sets a record.” Why then did he shy away from calling the prestigious critics for a preview of the film, as is done on Thursdays every week for each and every film released in India?
The film stars Akshay kumar, Rishi kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Mithun Chakrabarty Asin, Jacqueline Fernandes, Zarine Khan John Abraham, Shazahn Padamsee and Shreyas Talpade and Boman Irani and Malaika Arora in an item song number.
Expect a review by tomorrow evening as Housefull 2 will be screened to media around 12.30 pm tomorrow.

Housefull 2 Review – Entertaining Piffle
Bollywood Add comments
Given Akshay Kumar’s unceasing penchant for
starring in films that require you to leave your
brains at home, we walked into Housefull 2 with
high apprehensions and low expectations.
Boy, were we surprised.
‘Tis true, Housefull 2 is total bakwas (nonsense)
but thankfully of the amusing kind.
Directed by Sajid Khan based on a ‘story’ by Sajid
Nadiadwala, Housefull 2 , set in London, is wildly
over the top with bum-chomping crocodiles, dick-
biting pythons, dacoits-turning-billionaires-
shooting at Prince Charles etc but manages to eke
out lots of laughs.
For us, the two biggest delights of the movie were
the coming together of real-life brothers Randhir
Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor and the high humor
Randhir and Rishi play step-brothers in the film
and do a superb job. They render an acting lesson
to the younger generation of Bollywood stars.
Bollywood writers usually do a lousy job with
comedies, which often end up hopelessly crass,
crude and crappy.
In Housefull 2 , although the nonsense never
stops attention to the writing ensures the laughs
don’t stop too.
Housefull 2 – The Story?
Ha ha ha, you must be crazy if you insist on
knowing the story of Housefull 2 .
Didn’t we already say it’s nonsense?
Well, if you insist.
It all starts with the high aspirations two estranged
brothers Daboo (Randhir Kapoor) and Chintu
(Rishi Kapoor) have of snaring a super-wealthy
son-in-law for their respective daughters Bobby
(Jacqueline Fernandez) and Heena (Asin).
The rest of the movie is a fallout of their high
aspirations and a lengthy chronicle of insults,
revenge, hiring of two crooks Sunny (Akshay
Kumar) and Max (John Abraham), love, fights,
flashbacks and confusion galore.
Akshay Kumar and John Abraham play their
characters with enormous gusto, with Akshay
having an edge in the acting department.
Shreyas Talpade and Ritesh Deshmukh do a more
than adequate job in contributing to the mischief
and adding to the nonsense + amusement
Where there are four young men and four babes,
there’s bound to be love.
And so woven into this endless nonsense is four
Mithun Chakraborty, Johnny Lever and yesteryear
Bollywood ‘rapist’ Ranjeet are part of the frolic.
Four Girls
There’s not much to be said of the four girls –
Jacqueline Fernandez, Asin Thottumkal, Zarine
Khan and Shazahn Padamsee.
None of them can spell A C T I N G.
Most of the time, the girls are seen in skimpy
costumes showing us generous glimpses of flesh.
Of the four girls, Asin is easily the worst in the
acting department.
With a plastic smile plastered to her face in almost
every scene she appears, this South Indian atrocity
is one awful actress.
One of nature’s many cruelties that Indians have to
suffer in silence. Say, is there a reservation quota
in Bollywood?
Music and Items Number
Not classic but certainly nothing to complain
Mercifully, most of them are choreographed well
too. None of those simian dances.
Item queen Malaika Arora is a picture of
sensuousness, grace and class in the Anarkali
Disco Chali number.
Malaika makes other Bollywood item players like
Kareena, Katrina etc look like wanton hussies.
Housefull 2 – Go for It
SearchIndia.com recommends Housefull 2 if
you’re yearning for some laughs this weekend.

Housefull 2
By Taran Adarsh, 6 Apr 2012, 08:31 hrs IST

By and large, what kind of anticipation does one have from the new installment of a successful franchise? Also, the query that crosses one's mind is, will the new installment offer better-quality entertainment, will it promise guffaws and belly laughs and in turn, prove to be a money spinner at the ticket window?

HOUSEFULL 2 has a massive cast -- it retains a few names from the first part [Akshay, Riteish, Boman Irani], but has a number of entrants as well [John, Shreyas, Asin, Jacqueline, Shazahn, Zarine, Rishi, Randhir, Mithun] -- and it's, obviously, bigger in scale. Besides, like the first part, the new installment has most of the drama happening inside a mansion. The only aspect that doesn't change is Sajid Khan's objective of providing entertainment. Get amused, have ample laughs and exit the auditorium grinning from ear to ear, that's his funda.

HOUSEFULL 2 belongs to the same school of zany comedies that gave us NO ENTRY, WELCOME, the GOLMAAL series and READY. Conversely, to some intellectuals and scholars of cinema, this genre of cinema may appear nonsensical and outrageous thanks to haphazard incidents and farcical characters, no definite storyline or characterization. These films are often written off as low-IQ comedies. But do the commoners really care? As long as you are assured of sufficient tummy laughs and the magical words that define masala movies [entertainment, entertainment, entertainment], that's all that actually matters. Let's not overlook the fact that a large chunk of the movie-going audience admire and relish these entertainers and are passionate about cinema of this variety. So if a handful of assessors plan to disgrace wacky comedies, it barely matters!

HOUSEFULL 2 tells the story of four fathers [Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Boman Irani], four daughters [Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shazahn Padamsee, Zarine Khan] and four prospective sons-in-law [Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade]. Each father wants his daughter to marry the richest son-in-law. Each daughter thinks she is marrying the richest son-in-law. Each son-in-law is pretending to be the richest son-in-law. However, none of these people can stand each other and all of them are under one roof, in one house.

As they enter the house, a catchy title 'Jolly' gets attached to their name and thanks to a confusion, the four fathers begin to think all four sons-in-law are named Jolly. The confusion only gets bigger…

HOUSEFULL 2 gives a new description to crazy and bizarre and Sajid Khan makes no bones of the fact that his motive is to make a movie that appeals to the masses, the [I]aam aadmi who relishes hardcore masala movies. In fact, HOUSEFULL 2 has all the constituents of an archetypal Hindi movie with hilarity and madcap absurdity in abundance. Moreover, with songs, dances and feel-good moments, it delivers what it promises. The mantra is simple: Keep the fun quotient coming. If you are one of those who cares less about logic and rationale, but looks at movies that not only entertain, but also act as stress busters, HOUSEFULL 2 should slake your craving in those two hours.

The first hour is breezy and fun [just don't miss the crocodile and python episodes in this hour], besides the introduction of Akshay, but the fun quotient takes a backseat in the post-interval portions. The track involving Vindoo seems unwarranted and the fight sequence looks forced. Ditto for some sequences in the middle of the second hour [the Mithun-Boman tiff], which stagnates the movie. Besides, a few jokes appear contrived, while a few fall flat and are not too effectual. The climax, much like most of the movie, is ludicrous, but it works because it keeps you glued to the proceedings.

Sajid Khan comes up with a film full of joviality, frolic and merriment. While the screenplay is watertight in the first hour, the writers could've added more zany stuff in the second half. Yet, there's no denying that the motive is to make you laugh and this movie makes you break into guffaws on several occasions. Also, I'd like to make a special mention of the dialogue, which are witty, funny and amusing. The music [Sajid-Wajid] has been created keeping in mind the theme of the movie. 'Papa To Band Bajaye' is already popular and so are 'Right Now' and 'Anarkali'. The cinematography is conventionally appealing.

Akshay is in form this time. I have often said that you can put in writing the most hilarious dialogue in the world, but at the end of the day, humor is all about delivery on screen and Akshay delivers and how! He fits the character like a glove and delivers a scintillating act, illuminating every scene that he appears in. John and Akshay first teamed up years ago in GARAM MASALA and again in DESI BOYZ. This time around, John has emerged a lot better in his comic timing and gets your funny bone tickling with his worthy act.

Riteish continues to be in the middle of an exciting phase. Proving his credentials in several comic films, the actor displays his comic time yet again. The precision with which he executes his part is commendable. Shreyas is almost a veteran as far as comic entertainers are concerned. If truth be told, it is fairly tricky to make people cackle with gusto and Shreyas makes an earnest effort to come up with an endearing act.

Amongst the female leads, Asin has the meatiest role and gives a decent account of herself. Jacqueline, Shazahn and Zarine act more as eye candy. They are the typical sultry and enticing selves; each one is befitting in her own space.

It's a treat watching veterans like Randhir, Rishi and Mithun portraying wacky characters with panache. In fact, each one of them is wonderful in their respective parts. Boman Irani is efficient yet again, although the length of his character isn't much. Chunky Pandey is simply superb. Johny Lever's comedy is flawless. Ranjeet shines in a cameo. He's hilarious! Malaika Arora Khan radiates oomph in the 'Anarkali' track.

On the whole, HOUSEFULL 2 is a madcap entertainer that gets the viewer giggling, yelling, whistling and applauding in his seat and you completely savor the fact that the spectators parked around you too are utterly engaged in the chaos and seeking maximum pleasure from the on-screen happenings. If you are a moviegoer who derives pleasure from loud comedies with over-the-top humor that defy logic at every opportunity, I am sure, you will relish this wacky slapstick. If your idea of watching a comedy is to have a good time at the movies, then HOUSEFULL 2 is especially designed for you.

Ludhiana: Housefull 2 Opens To Fantastic Response

Housefull 2 took a fantastic in Ludhiana, a key centre of East Punjab. The film faced competition from a local Punjabi film Mirza - The Untold Story which took a mind boggling historic opening with over capacity houses across Punjab and to have near 100% collections against such competition is excellent. Zarine Khan talks Housefull 2!

Zarine Khan, who made her debut in Salman Khan’s dream project Veer and was last seen in an item song in Ready is back on the big screen with Housefull 2 – The Dirty Dozen.
The 27-year-old actress talked to Bollywood reporter Sunny Malik about her role in her new release, her experience of doing comedy and much more.
Housefull 2 is your second film after Veer which released in 2010. How are you feeling?
It is only my second movie and I am sharing screen space with some of the biggest actors that we have in our film industry. I could not have asked for a better second chance.
What is your role in the film?
I play a character called JLo, I am playing a supermodel in the movie. My love interest in the film is played by Riteish Deshmukh. I could very much relate to my character because she is very bossy and that is how I am, in real life.
Were you offered the film because Salman Khan recommended you to the producers?
Saijd Nadiawala, the producer, is a family friend and he approached me for the movie. I was more than happy to be a part of it.
You are paired with Riteish in the film. How was your experience working with him after working with Salman Khan in Veer?
It was superb because Riteish is a fabulous actor and has brilliant comic timing, so he was a great help. After working with Salman, working with Riteish was like working with two opposite people. It was a pleasure working with him.
Just like Asin shot with Salman for London Dreams in the UK, you shot with him here for Veer. How was it like to shoot here again?
It was amazing. I love London and love coming here. We shot in Peterborough, a small town we had gone to and it was a new place for me. It was really beautiful, we used to go out every evening, and it was so much fun working there.
http://bollyspice.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/12apr_zarine-intrvw02.jpg (http://bollyspice.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/12apr_zarine-intrvw02.jpg)You are often compared to Katrina Kaif because of your looks. Does that bother you anymore or is it just old news now?
It is comparatively very less now. People have now started to recognise me as Zarine Khan and no more as somebody’s look-a-like and I am really happy about it. But I need to work really hard and somewhere down the line I will be successful in doing that.
Your female co-stars said that all the girls bonded really well. That is really unusual.
Yes, I don’t know. I mean, there have been no cat fights and we have all been like one big happy family. We have had no jealousy and insecurities. We were just there working and had our girl gang, we were having fun, chilling out and even when we were not shooting, we were going out and making plans.
How was it like to share screen space with legendary actors like Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty.
It’s always a delight to work with Mithun Chakraborty as I worked with him already in my debut film. I have always been very fond of Rishi Kapoor. I was actually looking forward to meet the veteran actors instead of the younger actors. I was more than happy to meet Rishi Kapoor. Randhir Kapoor is a super chilled out person. You can have conversations with him about anything. You will not feel the generation gap at all. Boman Irani is another fabulous person, who is there to help you and guide you. I was the least experienced on this set, as it is only my second film. They were all out there to help me and guide me and I am really thankful to all of them.
Why should UK fans go and watch the film?
After a very long time, you will pay for just one ticket, but you will get to see so many actors in a film. The yesteryear actors in the film will be dancing for a competition in the film which is fun. I am sure people don’t want to miss that. Come to the theatres on the 5th April 2012 and show us some love. (Laughs)
Housefull 2 : The Dirty Dozen, a film by Sajid Khan is out now in UK cinemas.

Housefull 2 Movie Review

As expected, Sajid Khan churns out yet another mindless entertainer titled 'Housefull 2' where a bunch of actors, few talented, few average; are trying hard to make you laugh. The film definitely reminds you that comedy is not an easy genre to make film on.

Story -

Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) and Dabbu (Randhir Kapoor) wants their daughters Heena (Asin) and Bobby (Jacqueline Fernandez) to get married to the richest bachelor in town, JD's (Mithun Chakraborthy) son Jolly (Riteish Deshmukh). Chintu has already insulted Jai's (Shreyas Talpade) dad who had come to him for his son's proposal. Co-incidentally Jolly is Jai's best friend and the two decide to teach Chintu a lesson by marrying his daughter and then leaving her. Jolly loves JLO (Zarine Khan) and so decides to hire Max (John Abraham) and then Sunny (Akshay Kumar) for the job. Things get hay wired and cause confusion.

Analysis -

Sajid Khan once again tries to create humour out of confusion but fails to make this film as entertaining as its prequel. The prequel was sorted and people knew what's happening; but in this film, with more than a dirty dozen in the cast, creates abundance of confusion. Yes. The film does have a few sequences and dialogues that are worth lauding. But overall, the film can be said entertaining but in parts.

Performances -

Akshay Kumar is his usual self, looks composed and entertaining. John Abraham was a pleasant change from his previously done serious roles. Riteish Deshmukh is entertaining. Shreyas Talpade is wasted. The ladies too have nothing much to do. Zarine and Shahzahn were not at all required. Mithun Chakraborthy is adorable while Rishi and Randhir Kapoor were good but their role seemed very predictable and clichéd toward the end. Johny Lever was to OTT. Chunky Pandey was as irritating as ever. Mallaika Arora Khan's Anarkali was thundering and people might just go watch the film for her.

Technicalities -

The film is shot in UK and the cinematographer captures it well. The background score gets too loud at times, initially the Akshay Kumar signature background track irritated but later it does make you smile, especially in the second half where it’s used less. The music is okay. Sajid’s direction too is pretty average. Some dialogues do impress and are interesting, but overall the story is clichéd and predictable.

Genre – Comedy

Plus Points - Actors, Dialogues, Anarkali

Minus Points - Senseless

Final Word - Keep your brains home and enjoy the laughter ride.

Housefull 2 Movie Rating - 2/5

Housefull 2 - Movie Review

The ApunKaChoice movie review of Housefull 2. One more screwball comedy with a circus of characters each with a screw or two loose! There are four papas looking for superrich husbands for their respective daughters. There are four brides, all agog to marry their prince charming. But the four prince charming are not really the prince charming but rank losers, crooks, swindlers, fiddlers, hitching their rickety wagons to the ladies’ fortunes. The plot thickens when all the dozen characters are inside one mansion and there’s a raging confusion over who’s who, with each papa thinking his prospective, rich son-in-law is named ‘Jolly’.

There’s deception, trickery, a battle of supremacy between two crooks, and the confusion climaxes in a wedding sequence with four brides, four grooms and the four papas who can’t stand each other. Question is: kiska band bajega!

Sajid Khan is not the kind of director to rustle up an intelligent comedy. The phrase ‘intelligent comedy’ is, in fact, oxymoronic for him. And Housefull 2 treads the same track as his previous comedies Housefull and Heyy Babyy, both of them hits. Sajid’s mantra is simple. Make sure the gags keep flowing one after another, and the rest (script, character sketches, logic) goes by the board. No wonder the script of Housefull 2 is a train of disjointed gags, many with little or no relevance to the plot progression, but to Sajid’s credit, some jokes do work, but not all. For instance, the sequences of the crocodile biting at the pants of Ritesh Deshmukh or a python getting up close and personal with John Abraham leave you laughing despite their silliness. Johnny Lever’s OTT snoopy act -- with an overuse of ‘the’ in his English lines -- falls the flat.

The best acts are put up by Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, both playing conmen. Akshay’s comic timing is back in its groove, and the once wooden John shows a surprising knack to make you smile with his gauche act. Ritesh Deshmukh is sadly reduced to hollering his lines, while Shreyas Talpade has his squinty moments now and then. Among the ladies, only Asin gets some meat in the role. The others (Jacqueline Fernandez, Shazahn Padamsee and Zarine Khan) are merely confection to the comedy.

Among the papas, Rishi Kapoor takes the cake, followed by Mithun Chakraborty, Boman Irani and Randhir Kapoor, in that order.

The songs (Sajid-Wajid) are fun to watch, but the fight sequences seem forcibly squeezed in just to have the two musclemen Akshay Kumar and John Abraham show their derring-do. The film could also have done better without the melodrama in the second half.

Verdict: Peg your expectations low and don’t hope for clever humour from Housefull 2 and chances are you will find this film a jolly good entertainer.

Eros International and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment’s Housefull 2 is a comedy about how four friends get married to four different girls.
Chintu Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor) and Daboo Kapoor (Randhir Kapoor) are step-brothers who do not see eye to eye. Even their daughters, Heena (Asin) and Bobby (Jacqueline Fernandez), love to hate each other. The step-brothers, who are involved in a game of one-upmanship, decided to get their respective daughters married to the richest person in London.
The step-brothers hire a marriage counselor, Aakhri Pasta (Chunky Pandey), to find them suitably rich bridegrooms. Pasta takes Jai (Shreyas Talpade) father’s to Chitu Kapoor. But Chintu Kapoor insults Jai’s father and the latter lands up in the hospital. Jai decides to get back at Chintuji. Aiding him in this is his friend Jolly (Ritesh Deshmukh), the son of a well-known rich person JD (Mithun Chakraborty).
To exact revenge, Jai and Jolly enlist the help of Max (John Abraham), their former good-for-nothing college mate. They plan to send Max into Chintu Kapoor’s house as Jolly, son of JD, in order to propose marriage to Chintu’s daughter and, then, to dupe him. Max, a street-smart thief, is more than happy to do their bidding for a fee. But when Max lands up in Daboo Kapoor’s house by mistake, Jai and Jolly have to bring in another former college mate, Sunny (Akshay Kumar), to pose as Jolly for Chintu Kapoor’s family.
Eventually, both Chintu Kapoor and Daboo Kapoor accept Jolly (that is, Sunny and Max) as their to-be son-in-laws. The only problem is that Heena and Bobby have not fallen in love with Sunny and Max. Also, there is JLo (Zarine Khan), Jolly’s (Ritesh) model-girlfriend who desperately wants to meet Jolly’s father, JD. Even Jai has left behind Parul (Shazahn Padamsee), a girl whom he is in love with.
What happens next? Is Jai able to exact his revenge on Chintu? Do Max and Sunny get rich by marrying the Kapoor daughters? Does Jolly tell his father about JLo? What happens when the four boys’ web of lies is exposed? The rest of the film answers these questions.
Housefull 2 Review: Script Analysis

The story of Housefull 2, penned by Sajid Nadiadwala, is entertaining and gives a lot of scope for comedy. The screenplay (by Sajid Khan, Tushar Hiranandani and Sajid-Farhad) capitalizes on this and creates many situations where the audience finds itself laughing out loud. Despite the preposterousness of the whole plot, the audience is engaged as the drama moves at a swift pace. Several sub-plots in the screenplay [like Max and Sunny’s enmity; the secret behind JD’s real identity; JD and Batook Patel’s (Boman Irani) friendship] also provide for ample doses of entertainment. The drama takes a real good turn in the second half, when all the characters somehow land up in JD’s palatial mansion. Here, Sunny improvises by the second to make sure that he and the other boys get the girls they want to be with. Even as this is happening, Patil (Johny Lever), an associate of JD’s, is so flummoxed that the audience is in splits over his poor condition. To their credit, the screenplay writers have made sure that in spite of the confusion in the drama, the viewer is never confused. The tracks of two brothers (Chintu and Daboo), two friends (Max and Sunny) being reunited, will appeal to the family audiences. The dialogues, written by Sajid-Farhad, are very good for the most part.
On the flip side, a few gags – like the one involving the snake and the crocodile; the one where Max, Sunny, Heena and Bobby end up on an island – seem rather over the top. Also, the pre-interval portion drags a bit and bores the audience. Another rider: Housefull 2 does not pose to be an intelligent film, and as such it might not appeal to a section of the audience which looks for other things in a film. A few action scenes, inserted just for the sake of it, fail to impress.
Housefull 2 Review: Star Performances & Direction

Akshay Kumar is in his element. He wows with his performance as Sunny and beings a smile to the audience’s lips as he reprises the cunning and wicked ways one remembers him for. John Abraham is plastic in most scenes but makes a spirited effort. Ritesh Deshmukh does a fine job as Jolly. Shreyas Talpade is alright as Jai. Of all the girls, Asin and Jacqueline Fernandez get the meatiest of roles and they do not disappoint. Shazahn Padamsee and Zarine Khan add glam value. Mithun Chakraborty is a delight as JD. He has some very good scenes with Akshay Kumar. Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor entertain with their nutty characters. Boman Irani does well as Batook Patel. Chunky Pandey is fine as Pasta. Johny Lever steals the show with his histrionics. Ranjeet, Suparna Marwah, Neelu Kohli, Virendra Saxena, Sandeep Garcha and others offer good support.
Sajid Khan delivers on his promise of an entertaining package. Although he could have made the drama sharper, and hence, more entertaining, one cannot really complain much about his narrative style. Some songs in the film act as fillers; others take the story forward. Papa and Anarkali songs are nice. Sajid –Wajid’s music is fine. Sameer’s lyrics are alright. Choreography, by Farah Khan, is commendable. The background score is effective. Manoj Soni’s cinematography is functional. Rameshwar S. Bhagat’s editing is sharp. Technically, the film is very good.
Housefull 2 Review: The Last Word

On the whole, Housefull 2 is an entertaining fare. It could have been better, but one can’t really complain as one comes out of the theatre smiling. It will do very good business at the box-office.

Review: Housefull 2

Film: Housefull 2
Director: Sajid Khan
Cast: Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade, Asin, Jaqueline Fernandes, Zarine Khan, Shazhan Padamsee, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Mithun Chakrabarthi
Rating: **
After being highly criticised for Housefull, Sajid Khan, who tasted commercial success for the movie, is back with yet another nonsensical, humourous trip. Riding with an even bigger star cast, this time round Sajid made sure he left no stone unturned to promote his latest directorial venture, Housefull 2.
Judging by his previous record, one wouldn’t expect a lot from a Sajid Khan movie. His main aim, as accepted by him, is to entertain, whether done by corny dialogues or an intelligently written script.
Before you read the review, you must know that there is no storyline to the movie. All that exists is confusing sequences put together. Then again, that’s what Sajid Khan is best known for! If you still insist, here it is... Dabboo (Randhir Kapoor) and Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) are step brothers who can’t stand each other and are hell-bent on finding richest husbands for their daughters, Bobby (Jaqueline Fernandes) and Henna (Asin) respectively. Jai (Shreyas Talpade) and one of UK’s richest man, JD (Mithun Chakraborty’s) son Jolly (Ritesh Deshmukh) devise to send Max (John Abraham) and Sunny (Akshay Kumar) to each of the Kapoors’ house as JD’s son. By the second half of the movie, all the characters land up in the same house and the confusion turns into a turmoil. You’d expect the film to begin with a bang, but it sets off as boring and forceful.
Despite an ensemble cast, Akshay Kumar carries the film on his shoulders. His scenes are amusing, if not uproarious. John Abraham tries too hard to bring a laugh, but fails miserably. However, his chemistry with Akshay proves to be a strong point for the film. The duo’s sequences together are quite entertaining. Ritesh, as a young Marathi bachelor, is funny and does justice to his role. Shreyas Talpade is under-utilised.
Rishi and Randhir Kapoor have done their best. However, one fails to understand their casting because they do not suit the characters. The four female leads do not have much to do and serve only as eye candy. Mithun Chakraborty has a small role but plays it remarkably with complete dignity.
The movie is definitely not a laugh-riot, but it doesn’t fail to bring out chuckles in bits. In various parts, the director has tried very hard to force a laugh, but fails to bring out even a smile. The first half is fun, yet disappointing for a movie that promises to be a hilarious hoopla. The second half starts with entertaining portions, but the excitement takes a back seat as it proceeds. The climax is stretched, yet acceptably amusing in parts. Infused in generous portions are action sequences which are more entertaining than the comedy.
The storyline is weak and predictable but does justice to add to the confusion the director aimed to create. The dialogues are witty, but fall flat on most occasions when combined with the weak script. The main characters have been given their individual traits, each of which brings a cheer.
The songs are the high point of the movie. Anarkali disco chali and Pappa toh band bajaayein are definite chart toppers. The background score is normal and in-sync with the movie genre.
In the end, one does agree there is a genre called madcap comedy and intelligence has nothing to do with it. Yet again, you cannot question the sensibility of the cine-goers today and all one demands from movies today is reasonable humour.
Go in with a promise that you’ll be entertained, but don’t expect an exhilarating journey.

Housefull 2 Movie Review

Dirty Dozen Bring Down The 'House'!

Usually, it is seen in Bollywood that a sequel to a film is not as impressive as the original film itself. However, with Housefull 2, director Sajid Khan manages to reverse the entire equation, with impressive results. Though because of the presence of a lot of characters, the viewer might feel that some actors have not got enough justice, the film overall provides mirth by the truckloads.

A pair of step-brothers (Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor), who are constantly at each other's throats, hire a matrimonial agent Aakhri Pasta (Chunky Pandey) to find a rich son-in-law for their feisty daughters (Asin and Jacqueline Fernandez respectively). However, when Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) insults the father of a prospective son-in-law Jai (Shreyas Talpade), the latter alongwith his friend Jolly (Riteish Deshmukh) decide to avenge it by hiring a thief and conman Max (John Abraham) to exact revenge. When Max accidently latches onto the other Kapoor (Randhir Kapoor), the avenging duo decide to bring in another shady character Sunny (Akshay Kumar) to complete the job.

What follows is a roller coaster ride of misunderstandings and con games played by almost every character in the movie. Thrown in the plot are a stern business tycoon JD (Mithun Chakraborty), Batuk (Boman Irani), a police official and JD's best friend, a sleazy therapist named 'Vasna K Pujari' (Ranjeet) and the stage is set for 'rolling in the aisles' kind of laughter.

Though the women have nothing much to do except pout and look pretty, the men, right from Akshay Kumar to John Abraham to Riteish Deshmukh to Mithun to Ranjeet make you guffaw with their inimitable performances.

Though on one hand, it does feel that Talpade doesn't get enough scope to exercise his sense of humour, one must say that John Abraham has come a long way since his Garam Masala days and the hunky model turned actor almost matches upto Akshay Kumar (let me repeat…almost) when it comes to comic timing and dialogue delivery. However, it is the Khiladi who takes the cake and some of his scenes alongwith Riteish Deshmukh are some of the best in the movie. The Deshmukh dude sure knows his stuff and his character's habit of speaking in Marathi in moments of utmost stress is sure to make you erupt with laughter.

On the flip side, the movie suffers from some corny scenes and the initial few minutes of the film gets a tad boring, but once all the characters enter the fray, the humour quotient picks up with amazing speed. Critics of Akshay might sure complain that his 'smart alec' character in the movie is quite similar to his other characters in films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi? to Deewane Huye Paagal to Tees Maar Khan, but Kumar wears it like a comfortable old glove and fans of the Khiladi will once again get to see their star in form. As for the rest of the cast, Mithun Chakraborty, Boman Irani and Johnny Lever alongwith the Kapoor brothers perform well though Chunky Pandey gets on your nerves. Moreover, the editing could have been a bit crisper.

However, all in all, Housefull 2 is the kind of film that one watches on a lazy weekend and chuckles on the way out…

Review: Take a ‘Housefull 2’ laughter ride this weekend!

Just by looking at the 4 geeky looking men in retro-styled suits singing ‘Papa Toh Band Bajaye’, one could easily guess what the story has in store for all. And ‘Housefull 2’ is finally here to tickle your funny bone.

Known for his exceptional command over comedy, witty filmmaker Sajid Khan has succeeded in pulling of a hilarious multi-starrer flick ‘Housefull 2’.

With an ensemble star cast- Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Boman Irani, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandes, Zarine Khan and Shahnaz Padamsee, Chunky Pandey and Johnny Lever, ‘Housefull 2’ takes you on a rollercoaster ride that will leave you laughing your heart out.

Though the film has certain glitches, one can easily overlook them, for the film certainly promises a great deal of laughter that will leave you pleading for a break. Your jaws will be tired laughing and so will your tummy that might suffer cramps! The first half keeps you busy as you will stop munching your bucket of pop-corn. However, the second half is a bit of a drag that has some clichéd dialogue and contriving situations that might leave you wondering about their inclusion in the film.

Akshay Kumar is fabulous in the film and so is Shreyas. John has bettered his comic performance and Riteish seems to have mastered the art of making people cackle. The veterans- Randhir, Rishi and Mithun will surprise you, for you will get to see them in their funniest-ever avatars. And trust me…it must have been quite a task for themselves to “not” behave their age and turn those naughty little boys! Boman Irani as always is mind-blowing. It also feels great to see Jonny Lever after a long time and this man’s performance needs no reviewer. He is outstanding. Asin is the only one from the hotties in the film to have some substantial role to play; while the others are just for adding that bit of glam quotient.

Sajid-Wajid have done a great job by giving some feet-tapping music. ‘Anarkali’ too has grabbed many ears since the music was released. The screenplay writer could have done little more hard work in the second half of the film, but we can excuse him, for the film provides wholesome entertainment. Cinematography is pretty good and so is Sajid’s treatment.

This Sajid Khan film is certainly not for people who feel cinema needs to be driven by quality content and logic. Then, we are sorry to keep away from this film. But if you are someone who likes to chortle even for no reason or someone who believes in keeping the brains off while entering a cinema hall, then ‘Housefull 2’ is the right thing for you.
So please don’t wait even a minute and grab tickets before the multiplexes show you the “Housefull” placard!

Ratings:: Three cheers to this one!

Housefull 2 Movie Review

Exactly two years later, Sajid Khan comes with a sequel to HOUSEFULL. This one is more hilarious than the previous. HOUSEFULL 2 does have the house full with an array of stars. And yes, it does bring the house down.

Judging by the reaction of the audience in the multiplex, which was almost 50 percent full, Sajid's gags has you in splits. This one is a full-on paisa vasool fare. Typical Sajid Khan humour. Sticking to its promise of being a comedy, Sajid latches on to that and keeps you holding your sides at times. True, the movie does drag in between, but the ride is worth a watch.

None of the girls from the previous outing have been retained. While Riteish Deskmukh and Akshay Kumar along with Boman Irani are still there, Shazahn Padamsee, Zareen Khan and Asin come in for Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan and Deepika Padukone. For novelty sake there's Rishi and Randhir Kapoor and also Mithun Chakraborty. Chunky Pandey manages to hold on to his spot as Aakhri Pasta, while John Abraham and Shreyas Talpade give Riteish and Akshay company.

CHECK OUT: Akshay on HOUSEFULL 2- It's time to make people laugh

The story set in the UK, hinges on the rivalry between the two brothers Chintu and Daboo which trickles down to their wives and daughters. Both want the richest son-in-law for their daughter. Jai's (Shreyas) dad has suffered a heart attack after being humiliated by Chintu when the two families meet for a marriage proposal. Chintu thunders that he wants none other than JD's (Mithun) son for his daughter. As fate would have it, Jolly (Riteish) JD's son happens to be Jai's friend. To get even with Chintu, Jai requests Jolly to help him out. Jolly refuses as he is afraid of his father. Instead, they ask Max (John), their friend, to double up as Jolly.

In another comic twist to the tale, Max (Jolly) lands up in Dabboo's house by mistake. Jai, not one to spare Chintu then goes to Sunny (Akshay), another college friend, for help. There are now two fake Jolly's. Jai, has to inadvertently masquerade as the third towards the end. The entire cast lands up at JD's mansion with Sunny playing the mediator between Jolly and JD and the rest of the gang.

Considering the commotion, Sajid jumps into the thick of things to makes sense out of nonsense. It's a treat to watch Rishi and Randhir together on screen. Mithun is prolific in his performance while of the boys, only Riteish manages to impress. There's Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati thrown in for good humour. The girls are just gloss with no one managing to impress with their act.
The costumes are eye-catching and the music, foot-tapping.

Don't go looking for a masterpiece; HOUSEFULL 2 delivers what it promises. Having said that, if the editing was a little sharper, 20 minutes snipped off would have made this film even more hilarious.

If you are one of those who cares less about logic and rationale, but looks at movies that not only entertain, but also act as stress busters, HOUSEFULL 2 should slake your craving in those two hours. On the whole, HOUSEFULL 2 is a madcapentertainer that gets the viewer giggling, yelling, whistling and applauding in his seat and you completely savor the fact that the spectators parked around you too are utterly engaged in the chaos and seeking maximum pleasure from the on-screen happenings. If you are a moviegoer who derives pleasure from loud comedies with over-the-top humor that defy logic at every opportunity, I am sure, you will relish this wacky slapstick. If your idea of watching a comedy is to have a good time at the movies, then HOUSEFULL 2 is especially designed

What’s Good: The entertaining screenplay; a majority of the comedy dialogues; Akshay Kumar’s performance. What’s Bad: A few gags that don’t work; a few boring portions in the pre-interval portion.Verdict: Housefull 2 entertains. It will do good business at the box-office.Loo break: A couple during the songs.Watch or Not?: Certainly watch it as it is a madcap, albeit mindless, comedy.

Though the film has certain glitches, one can easily overlook them, for the film certainly promisesa great deal of laughter that will leave you pleading for a break.

As expected, Sajid Khan churns out yet another mindless entertainer titled 'Housefull 2' where a bunch ofactors, few talented, few average; are trying hard to make you laughSajid Khan once again tries to create humour out of confusion but fails to make this film as entertaining as its prequel. The prequel was sorted and people knew what's happening; but in this film, with more than a dirty dozen inthe cast, creates abundance of confusion. Yes. The film does have a few sequences and dialogues that are worth lauding. But overall, the film can be said entertaining but in parts

“Housefull2” lived up to my expectations – of being a despicablefilm that boasts of garish performances, a mediocre, yet confusing script, and some seriously inane lines, peppered with humdrum Bollywood disco songs and twists. It’s a classic example of how too many actors can spoil a movie. The story is hackneyed, and fails to tickle us anymore. The movieis also guilty of lifting funny scenes from Hollywood flick. The tennis scene between John and Randhir is a straight copy from the 1999 Sharon Stone-starrer “The Muse”.So,if nothing else, I’m quite sure this movie won’t play “House Full” in thecinemas.

B.O. update: 'Housefull 2' opens big, expect magical numbers

Clashing with a strong opponent like IPL was a risk, but the gamble seems to have paid off. HOUSEFULL 2 was off to a fabulous start from its morning show onwards across the country. The occupancy was in 80% to 90% range [at several screens, even 100%], resulting in one of the biggest starts of this year. The noon shows were better and the evening/night shows are expected to add to a magical total. The trade is upbeat and the distributors of HOUSEFULL 2 were jumping with joy [naturally!], since the housefull boards were up in most screens of the country.

Though a bit too early to comment on what the Friday figure is expected to be, the business should cross the Rs 15 cr mark, as per initial trends. It may even touch Rs 17 cr to Rs 18 cr, though it's a bit too early to comment.

Housefull 2 First Day Collections | Early Estimate

HOusefull 2 Had an excellent opening at the box office. The Film opened to an excellent response at the Multiplex and the advance bookings are increasing now for the coming weekend.

Housefull 2′s First Day Box Office Collections as per early estimates are 14.75 crores. This is a Bumper Figure and only a few films till date are ahead of this. The Response of the audinence to this film has been mixed with 60-70% in the favor of the film.

There is Huge Chance that this film will show a jump on Saturday due to the above mentioned reason. But, this film is clearly short of other Big Releases in the Form of Agneepath of Bodyguard. But, if Housefull 2 is able to hold up during the weekdays and week 2 than it may cross Bodyguard and Agneepath as well.

We must remember that 3 Idiots, had a first day of 13 crores still, it is the highest grossers of all time.

Housefull 2 is Good at Comedy | Movie Review

For a Long Time we have been witnessing Comedies which are brainless or storyless, to be more precise. But, Housefull 2 is not one of those types. We all know how much time has been devoted to the making and writing of this movie, so it was very less possible already

that this film would be a brainless entertainer.

http://boxofficeday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/housefull2-1.jpg (http://boxofficeday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/housefull2-1.jpg)

Story: As, I said above it has been said for many could have been successful comedies that they lacked a good story. This is where Housefull 2 differenciates itself and takes a leap ahead. The Film has been written By the Sajid Nadianwala who is also the producer of the film. The Plot of the film involves excessive confusion among the characters. For this there are different short stories which have been linked like a charm. So, this film has a great and most importantly ‘perfect’ storyline.

Direction: The film has been directed by the very successful director Sajid Khan. This Film was probably the biggest Challenge for him and invoved alot of hard work. And the hard work is clearly visible. For a Film of 2 Hours and 41 minutes, it is very necessary that the film binds you all the time. This is true with Housefull 2. The Movie gets more and more intersting as it progresses. The Songs, in the film have been perfectly positioned. Also, Each and every actor has been used to full potential.

Performances: If I go describing the performances one by one, it would take a lot of time. Thanks to the exccesive huge star cast of this film, which consists of 14 Members.

The Performances by each and every character is tremenodus. Though, the actor who deserves special mention is Akshay Kumar. We Have not seen Akki in this avatar for a long time and he is really a delight to watch. Boman Irani has a very brief appearance in this film. But, he plays his part well.

Minus Points: Although, there are no significant flaws in the film, it can be said that the film could have been better.

Overall: Housefull 2 is completely an awesome entertainer and a must watch for all. Though, certain section of people might not appreciate this films. But Movie Buffs would love it and people who need relaxation from the hectic schedule are definitely going to enjoy this ride.

Review: Housefull 2 is shamefully bad

There's a little glimpse of Raj in every Kapoor. Over the years, as Shammi and Shashi developed their own styles, as Randhir harmlessly tickled, while Rishi revolutionised young romance and as Ranbir continues to blaze his town trail, the men in the family have often showed off momentary, unmistakable flashes of Raj.

Sajid Khan's [ Images ] new film reunites Randhir and Rishi, putting them in derby hats and preposterous bowties, giving them horrible lines and offensive characters, with puerile humour and much ham on display. The only Raj we see in the lads here is the embarrassing Raj of better forgotten excursions like Gopichand Jasoos. One can imagine the Showman, peering from on high, cringing.

Exasperatingly abused as they are by the script and the maker, the brothers however remain the less agonising parts of Sajid Khan's Housefull 2, a grotesque film that seems to have been put together by a particularly sadistic ten-year-old. The fact that a film like this gets a budget and a release is befuddling and alarming, with several of the 'actors' involved vying fiercely for the Worst Of The Lot award.

That is, as you can expect, a contest going right down to the wire. There's Shreyas Talpade [ Images ], impressively making us forget the days of yore when we used to applaud his performances. There's Johnny Lever [ Images ], phoning in idiocy that has gotten really, really old. There's John Abraham [ Images ] (a frontrunner, no question) who basically plays a preteen girl in an athletic man's body. There's Chunky Pandey [ Images ], making Benny Hill look subtle. There's Boman Irani [ Images ], screaming so much we get to know his tonsils. And there's Akshay Kumar [ Images ], performing competently enough (as he routinely does in these Priyadarshanny piles of slop), but flaunting his incredible folly merely by participating in this tediously unfunny enterprise.

And there are the girls, each a vision of interchangeable moronity. Jacqueline Fernandes [ Images ] and Asin [ Images ] play screechy environmentalist bimbettes scared of trees and sand, clueless rich girls with anger issues. Zarine Khan - looking like Katrina Kaif [ Images ] slapped around a bit and then placated with a tubful of ghee - is mercifully not given much to do, though one imagines her role as a Kat - lookalike unhealthily obsessed with getting married might plague a drunken Salman if he ever watched the film. Then again, nightmares abound for the rest of us as well. Watching the ravishing Malaika Arora [ Images ] Khan show off her Transylvanian mouth in a non-dance sequence is enough, honestly.

Look, I have nothing against stupid comedies. The keyword, however, for Khan's films is that he stresses the stupid part much too much, and all at the expense of the laughs. Even a basic, childishly simple gag - where a compulsive thief walks out of a sauna and pinches a character's towel - is turned flat by Khan's perplexing decision to equip that character, and only that character, with a towel for his head, which basically means he can wrap it around his privates and saunter out instead of being genuinely starkers and embarrassed. And so we have Chunky Pandey hiding behind a towel - a towel he's holding in his bloody hands - and crying about how he wished he had a towel. Come on, Sajid, at least try to see the joke through, foolish as it is.

Housefull 2 is shamefully bad. So bad that Ranjeet - the rapey villain of yore - who appears in one scene, is the most dignified thing about the film.

Housefull 2 Review

http://www.nowrunning.com/images/net/common/stars/big/2.gif Housefull 2 may not be a good film but it certainly stands tall in comparison to many a mindless capers, one from Sajid Khan himself

In a scene in Housefull 2, a crocodile bites off Reteish Deshmukh's derriere while on the other hand, a python appears to be poisoning Shreyas Talpade's crotch and the two go large faced (courtesy the excessive zoom on their faces) and cock-eyed whilst writhing in pain. Given the standards of humour in the film, this sequence demands a few laughs.

I'm sure by now you may have assessed the silliness in the film involved but beware, this isn't a critic trying to plague your thoughts, this is a cinema buff that goes to watch a film expecting some amount of sanity left while getting out of the theater and ends up sans any leftovers.

Back in 2010, during the release of his film Housefull, Sajid Khan had clearly stated that his film isn't meant for critics, the critics criticized it but the film turned out to be a huge success. Cut to 2012, the filmmaker is back with its second installment, a similar proposition with an even bigger cast and a similar cautionary message - 'this film isn't for critics'. But if critics are the only ones expected to have brains, then what else shall one say?

Housefull 2 takes off with a long kept familial rivalry between step brothers Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) and Dabbo (Randhir Kapoor), not only are they arch enemies, even their daughters Heena (Asin) and Bobby (Jacqueline Fernandez) respectively. Both brothers end the fight by declaring they would get their daughters married to a rich millionaire businessman's son. Enter apparent sons of JD (Mithun Chakraborty) Jolly # 1 i.e Max (John Abraham), then Jolly # 2 Sunny (Akshay Kumar), then Jolly # 3 Jai (Shreyas Talpade) and finally the real Jolly (Riteish Deshmukh). Madness increases as the real girlfriends of the fake Jollys Parul (Shazahn) and JLo (Zarine Khan) jump into the mad house. Confused aren't you? So were we.

But that's the advantage that filmmaker Sajid Khan tries seeking by providing a mumble jumble of characters merged with silly PJs, some funny some appalling, in a bid to make a mad cap entertainer. However, credit still goes to the maker for attempting a better comedy than his last offering Housefull which literally had many going red on their faces.
The dialogues are straight out of a book on PJs and are very consecutively delivered. For example, "20th Century ka toh pata nahi but aap asli fox ho," or even " Birla ka toh pata nahi but Tata (while waving a bye)." Some gags in Housefull 2 end up being appalling for example, the scene of Mithun romancing a Dwarf and the dialogue that follows, "Tumney itna chota kaam kaise kar liya!"

However, there are bits that really entertain you as well, specially the part of yesteryear villain Ranjeet who plays a therapist and Akshay's father in this film whose placard read THeRapist! Even the comic timing between some actors is stupendous and make way for some no-brainer laughs.

The actresses barely get their share in this film and Zarine and Shazahn are merely for two-two scenes each. Asin is decent in her parts while Jacqueline's lines are clearly dubbed. So is the case with Malaika Arora who again plays two scenes, except her item song Anarkali Disco Chali.

Akshay is same as before while John struggles real hard to deliver his lines humorously. In a bid to act funny, he ends up appearing crooked faced instead and repeats his actions again and again. Shreyas is passable while Riteish is the only actor who plays his part with utmost ease. Rishi and Randhir spend most of their time yelling on the screen with the background score of Raj Kapoor film. Johnny Lever and Chunkey Pandey's bits are forced and dragged.

The same can be said about the length of the film as well. Nearly three times in the first half you feel the intermission is just around the corner but it fails your predictability and goes on and on. Many long shots are clearly out of focus and can easily be pointed out. The fight sequences are needlessly inserted and only stretch the film further more.

Over all, Housefull 2 may not be a good film but it certainly is better than the worst (namely its first part).

Housefull 2 Review

With Housefull 2, you get what you expect. You would have seen the trailers, the previous film (Housefull) and you also know what to expect from Sajid Khan. If a loud slapstick comedy, without an iota of sense or logic isn’t your cup of tea, stay far away from Housefull 2. Oh and don’t bother reading this review either.

But the fact that Housefull was one of the biggest grossers of 2010, most certainly means, there is a huge audience for such films in India. Continuing the successful franchisee, director Sajid Khan has included more than 12 actors in Housefull 2. Does it offer double entertainment?
Housefull 2 Review

The whole point here is to keep you entertained for the film’s 150 minute odd duration and Sajid Khan does exactly that. Filled with hilarious sequences, right from Akshay Kumar’s introduction to the last wedding scene, Housefull 2 delivers unlimited laughs. The story and the situations that the characters find themselves in, has plenty of scope for comedy and Sajid Khan exploits it to the fullest.

While some scenes like those involving the crocodile and snake, were way too over-the-top, action scenes seem to have been forced into the narrative.

The music by Sajid-Wajid is good, Papa Toh Band Bajaye is catchy and easily the film’s best song. Farah Khan’s choreography is decent, but Anarkali Disco Chali is unlikely to come close to Munni Badnaam Hui popularity-wise. Cinematography by Manoj Soni is commendable.

Housefull 2 Performances

Amidst all the madness and confusion, it’s the performances that make mediocre sequences funny. Akshay Kumar stands out with a fantastic performance. His comic timing is the best, followed closely by Ritesh Deshmukh.

John Abraham, for a change, manages to express. He doesn’t get his expressions right in a few scenes, but delivers a reasonably good performance. Shreyas Talpade doesn’t get the best of lines. It was nice to see Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor sharing screen-space for the first time, they manage to entertain. As Jagga Daaku, Mithun Chakraborty is brilliant. Chunky Pandey as Pasta is funny. Johhny Lever is okay.

The girls sizzle on-screen, but have very little to do except to look at their glamorous best.

Overall, we liked Housefull 2 more than the first film in the series. The film has plenty of laughs, some good performances and keeps you entertained from start to finish. Go for it.

Housefull 2 review

Comedy fueled by confusion yields very little. And in Bollywood, this leads to people repeating their punch lines, screaming while spitting with expressions more animated than the next Pixar production. Here we have a house full of just this. The success factors are the usual: foreign locations, a minimum of two top stars (John-Akshay) and a maximum of two average stars to make the top stars feel more significant (Shreyas-Riteish). Then there has to be unaccountable opulence (since the audience wants to escape from their middle-class drudgery), dhishooming at the ratio of 30:1, naach-gaana by the united blues of Thailand and so on.

http://l.yimg.com/t/images/laughormymumwill600.jpgSomething the script writer deserves, if this film had one

The above image is a good example of what one can expect as an excuse for humour in this film. People getting kicked in the behind and falling in a puddle of embarrassment. Laughter track? Yes, please. Anyway, the film is about four friends, three of whom are pretending to be the fourth person- Jolly, who is the son of UK-based millionaire, JD. Why? Because it’s the only way to charm any prospective father-in-law. And just for fun, the two sets of fathers of the bride are arch enemies. How does that alter the plot? It doesn’t but allows for bitter exchanges filled with pokey insults and ridiculing confrontations. So much for your hard-earned multiplex ticket.

Too close for comfort?

If two heterosexual men get this close physically, one would question their orientation but arching one’s brows like that doesn’t convey much love. And Sunny (Akshay Kumar) and Max (John Abraham) are bitter enemies. This is explained through a tiring flashback song sequence. If you’re pulling out your hair to guess if they resolve their differences, don’t. Not at the cost of sacrificing hair that probably won’t grow back. But then again, taking you through this story would ensure they grey evenly, so you might as well pull them out.

The tables have turned indeed!

What is the point of casting John Abraham if he can’t lift pool tables and bring them down to smash and bruise multiple extras? So he does just that between playing a suave pickpocket who forever seeks occasions to slip out of his t-shirt. John’s fans, rejoice!

You guys aren't jolly good fellows?

When the ladies realise that their millionaire fiancés aren’t aware of the number of zeroes in a million, they break down. The long and screechy ‘Nahiiiiiiiiiin’ has been done away with. But tears roll down and the short confrontation seems silly when in the very next scene the two arrive to forgive their respective partners and gulp down the lies and deceit that they put up with through the film. How generous! To the audience, that is.

Kyunki bahu bhi kabhi item girl thi

While Akshay Kumar and John Abraham hog the screen more than others, it’s difficult to tell if the film would’ve been any better or worse if the remaining cast got any more screen space. Post ‘Hera Pheri’, which was a success for no contribution from Akshay, he was led to believe that he could throw in one-liners just as well as his punches. And it was this false notion that led Akki to make us suffer over a dozen movies where we brave his effortlessly bad comic timing. Shreyas Talpade and Riteish Deshmukh are mere props who surface and disappear without much notice. As for the girls, when you step out of the film, you’d feel that they were only present in the songs or is that just wishful thinking?

The music isn’t soul melting but is pleasant and complements the stunning locales where the songs are filmed. The edit could’ve been crisper and could’ve eliminated some of the countless and pointless exchanges between step-siblings played by Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor.

'He's your brother, you find him an alternative profession'

We often say that our film industry is superficial to the extent of believing that a big star can save a sinking film by his/her mere presence. But then, how many of us pick our multiplex plans just based on the stars we want to see on the screen? Exactly, so fickle films are a product of a fickle audience. Go watch this movie and send out a strong message to financiers that this is what you want so that they can help Sajid Khan make another sequel. If he casts Vidya Balan in his sequel, it could be called Blouse-full.

Housefull 2 review: Just about bearable

Welcome to a world where grown-ups have names like Sunny, Max, Jolly, and Akshri Pasta, where London has more Indians than India, where a business whiz is as gullible as a toddler.
The film starts with touristy eagle-eye views of London’s sights—the London Eye, the bright red buses et al. We are introduced to two warring families divided by a fence.
The daughters of the homes—cousins—compete for professional credit as they both work for an animal welfare unit. Their mothers compete for face-lift appointments at clinics. And their fathers scream themselves hoarse about everything. One (Daboo played by Randhir Kapoor) has a ‘Kapoor and Son’ board outside his sprawling home. The other (Chintu played by Rishi Kapoor) has a ‘Kapoor and Real Son’ written outside his bungalow. Daboo is the adopted son that the father had outside of marriage. The two half-brothers now live in a constant state of war.
They are now competing for the Best Son-in-Law, which they greedily convert to a rich boy. Enter Chunky Pandey (groan…) who wears garish purple suits, speaks in a Sindhi-meets-Italian accent, and generally screams out his dialogues. He’s the one entrusted with finding the loaded groom for the Kapoor girls. They both zero in on business tycoon JD’s (Mithun Chakraborty) son except that...oh well…it’s difficult to explain.
The exhaustingly convoluted story doesn’t matter much. The crux is that the plot is all about mistaken identities, some intentional and some not. Four college friends (Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade) get involved in the fracas. The romances happen eventually, and all’s swell in the end. But not so fast.
At three hours plus, the film drags on endlessly. There’s even some Dabangg-style action that takes place in the second-half (our nincompoop heroes suddenly appear all together to beat up baddies that they call “bachchas”.)
But what’s rattling about the film is that most of the central characters are morally bereft, and that’s supposed to be normal. Sunny (Akshay) is a creep who says “Squeeze Me” to ladies he’s never met before. Max (John) is a thief, and the glorification of his “skill” raises no alarm at all. Jolly (Riteish) has no qualms helping his friends lie to the girls and their families. And Shreyas is well, just there, also lying constantly. The explanation in the end that this was all for a good cause, is bollocks.
Then there are the parents from hell who treat their children like commodities to be traded for money. It’s also regressive of course, painting the fathers of daughters as desperate for wealthy grooms, foregoing their children’s wish and opinion in the matter.
The sense of humour is often cheeky—the senior actors are cast as brothers on screen as well and have retained their real pet names for the movie. Barring a few witticisms, the humour is essentially juvenile. The comedy tries to work on word play, like “Sambhar ka pata nahi, par ye rasam aapno nibhani padegi”. Then there’s one that made this writer crack up, that of calling a snake “Francis Ford Sapola”.
Animals are made to go through the torture of biting the actors’ privates. It’s all supposed to be funny. And then there’s the introduction of yesteryear Bollywood baddie Ranjeet who has a 'Ranjeet The Rapist' board in his office. Ironically, he turns out to be the one giving the moral science lesson to our buffoons!
The doffing of hat to Raj Kapoor with the girls named as Heena and Bobby, and Rishi’s look, has not been done with the élan it deserves.
The performances vary. Rishi Kapoor is adorable as the rogue of a father who wants a rich son-in-law. John Abraham's Dostana act is fairly funny. Asin shines with her spirited act. Akshay Kumar is disappointing and that lustful expression that he’s been made to do is the pits.
Mithun Chakraborty is wonderful as the intense and foreboding tycoon. But the portions where these senior actors are made to forgo their dignity are unacceptable (read Mithun cavorting with a lady dwarf).
Directed by Sajid Khan, the film’s finale is funny—both intentionally an unintentionally. The physical slapstick comedy is straight out of a kids’ movie, but it is charmingly daft. You cannot help let out a laugh or two. It’s accidentally comic when you have a person with a bullet in his arm, but no one thinks of ringing for the ambulance. You see, long-winded, sappy moral science lectures are to be given at the very time.
So there you have it, a film (story and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala) that’s a high-production version of what they call the “mad-cap comedy”. With nothing else at the cinemas this week, this makes for a just-about- bearable single time view.
Rating: Two stars
