The Dirty Dozen:The hitmen of the Mumbai Underworld
Although many books have been written on the bigshots of the Bombay Underworld, this one chronicles the lives of the ones who actually pull the trigger. A fun breezy read
The Bhais of Bengaluru
Although gangster turned newswriter Agni Sreedhar's work "My Days in the Banaglore Underworld"is a more detailed work, this one is much more well written albeit missing out on many tales of the rise of the Bangalore mafia. A fun read

Pyre
Regretting not able to read Tamil fluently. Based on the premise of a higher caste fair girl eloping and marrying a lower caste dark Tamil boy, this one is an absolute cracker. Extremely depressing though

The Class of 83

The term "encounter" is one that has moved on from just another word in the police terminology to one that is used in daily life. This book is about the real life exploits of 2 Mumbai Cops who played a huge role in the decimation of the Bombay underworld in the 80's and 90's. This is not a glorified account whatsoever. The cops are in no way incorruptible and some of their exploits revoke nothing but contempt in the reader towards the indian judicial system. Many of these tales have been explored before by the same author. But in those tales the POV was always with the persons at the other end of the gun. It's a fast paced book that won't have you turning to the dictionary at any point in time.

This is Going to hurt

The funniest autobiography I've read in ages. Chronicling the day to day life of a gyenacologist in the U.K,this is the ultimate rib tickler. The humour ranges from slapstick to the wonderfully absurd. From a woman who stuffs a Kinderjoy into her vagina to propose to her BF(who is then unable to take it out) to placenta exploding into the mouth of the doc, this is one hell of a ride. Recommended reading for all

Right now,the Average reader/viewer is exposed to so much of forensic stuff in the form of documentaries, movies and crime fiction that the shock and thrill will be greatly reduced. Which is why this books does not have that desired impact. Make no mistake. This is a thrilling and fast paced read for sure. And for a forensic specialist to do these investigations at a time when technology had not progressed so far in India, puts his achievements at a greater level

Among all the fictional policemen in the world,my favourite would have to be Harry Hole. Probably because his adventures lie in the icy cold dark world Norwegian crime. The latest book in Jo Nesbo's runaway hit series follows his pursuit of a rapist murderer who strikes him down with a personal tragedy. A riveting and gripping psychological thriller which will keep you up for a long night's read

One of those books that's best enjoyed in a continuous stretch. A very old fashioned mystery that delivers in spades by the end. The twists and turns are delightful and you really get the whole vibe of a Goan village
