Birbal case 1 of the trilogy:

Pretty good crime thriller from Kannada industry. Doesn't have anything to do with Mughal era Birbal. It's set in contemporary times and title is because lead character's name is Mahesh Das. Planning to watch Bell Bottom next.

Would love to see a franchise based on the actual Mahesh Das. Something like Mughal era Sherlock with added Political intrigue

      Dhamaka

Chali ka baap. The sex comedy genre is one that offers immense fun. Let's forget the offerings from across the seas for once. You can either make a completely crass offering like Kya Kool Hai Hum(which is quite frankly the best crass sex comedy originating out of India. The sequels don't rise to the occasion though) or a straight forward slice of life sex comedy(Like Hunter,a criminally underrated sex comedy). When you try to mix both,it leads to an abomination. This is that abomination. The moral science lecture towards the end is puke worthy. And the sex jokes are of the 7th standard level. You know, the time when you realise that you can have fun with yourself and the slightest mention of bobs and vagene will have you giggling. Skip this piece of trash

      Pataal Lok

And the bar for locally made content gets raised even higher. An absolute crackerjack conspiracy thriller that never stops to catch a breath.

After a botched assassination attempt results in the capture of 4 convicts,it is upto a lowly and inexperienced Haryanvi cop to get to the bottom of this. Navigating both professional and personal demons,he dives straight into a world of caste wars, dacoits, lynching, terrorism and the unholy politician criminal nexus in India. This has to be the most accurate portrayal of the Delhi NCR area. From the posh English speaking liberal lobbies to the rustic Haryanvi speaking rowdy crowd, everything speaks of authenticity and research.

Hero Jaideep is outstanding. We've seen the guy in a lot of movies in bits and pieces, but here gets a role of a lifetime and absolutely knocks it out of the park. And he even gets a mass ka baap scene

      Streaming on Prime

      Department Q Film Series:

Finished all four movies and loved it. Looks like there are 4 more books so can't wait for the sequel films.
