Ivide outfitsinu enthanu prasakthi? Is this thread about any outfit or its innocent involvement in freedom struggle? Yet, you made the point that hindu outfits were not involved in the freedom struggle. You could have made your point relevant to this discussion without bringing in this totally unnecessary aspect. But, you did, and I replied. swathanthray samarathil ethu samudaya sanghadanayaanu kooduthal goal adichathu enna kanakku ippazhum nikkikondirikkano?

These rss outfits did nothing at all during freedom struggle. It's a joke to hear when they talk about independence movements. It's only about time they will picture Nathuram as a super hero in history books

When you look back through the lens of history one appears right and the other appears wrong. In WB, they still regard Netaji as the most heroic freedom fighter. 50 years after independence we came to know that Nehru had spied on Netaji's family long after he was allegedly killed in a plane crash. History throws up new dimensions from time to time. Pakshe parayumbo ellam parayanam...
You cannot make a Winston Chruchill biopic without showing how inhuman he was in dealing with the Bengal famine. Vaariyamkunnan fought against the British no doubt. But, it is also well documented that the rebellion turned into a religious witch hunt (with or without Vaariyamkunnan's consent - we don't know for sure). The fear now is that Vaariyamkunnan will be painted as a white knight, which will be twisting of well-know historical facts. That fear is primarily due to the director's political allegiance and the announcement post which clearly hailed Vaariyamkunnan as a hero. If the same announcement had been made by some other director, say Anwar Rasheed, no one would have had much of a problem. Kayamkulam Kochunni was a muslim who fought against the British atrocities. Maybe not a freedom struggle. He was portrayed as a hero beyond doubt. Hindus did not have any problem. Marakkar is about India's first naval commander who happens to be Muslim, and the movie clearly shows him as a valiant hero- Hindus don't have any problem. Jodha Akbar showed a Mughal emperor as fair and secular - Hindus did not have any problem (except some Rajputs). Don't turn everything into a Hindu fanatic angle. When history is clear and unanimous, there will be no questions asked. When history itself is full of doubts and contradictions, and when the subject is sensitive, there will be questions, and whoever touches such subjects better be ready to answer.
      Well said

1921 rebellion started as of a movement to install Khalifa back as head of Ottaman empire. How does that affect Muslims of India or any people in India. Fundamentally the movement was an Islamic theocratic movement, the same thought process that led to partition of India which again was vociferously backed by Muslims in Kerala. In addition to being an Islamic theocratic movement the 1921 movement also witnessed widespread communal riots against another religious community. In short it’s a blot of Kerala history.
films glorifying this event should be condemned and opposed. However the only argument put forward by proponents of this movie is rss is against the the movie, rss rss rss...... and no thoughts on why such movies should be made.
