Prithviraj’s Cold Case begins filming, actor to join next week
Filmmaker Tanu Balak’s directorial Cold Case, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead, went on floors on October 31 in Thiruvananthapuram. The film, scripted by Srinath V Nath, has Aditi Balan as the female protagonist.
Prithviraj, who had tested negative for Covid-19, is set to resume work with the film next week, according to a source from the production team. The actor is set to play a cop in the film, which will make the directorial debut of Tanu, who had earlier worked as a cinematographer in Of The People and The Train.
“It’s an investigative thriller set in Thiruvananthapuram. It draws inspiration from real-life incidents but overall it’s a fictional story. It has a reasonable budget. Though it doesn’t have action sequences, it is still a big project,” Tanu had earlier told us.
On Prithviraj’s character, the director said, “He plays an investigative officer in the film and most of his scenes are set indoors. There are only a few scenes with crowds.” The movie is produced by Anto Joseph, Jomon T John and Shameer Muhammed, who had also backed Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming film Irul.
Cold Case will be Prithviraj’s second movie after the lockdown rules were eased. The actor, earlier this month, had shot for Queen director Dijo Jose Antony’s Jana Gana Mana and had tested positive Covid-19 after the film’s schedule in Kochi. A few days ago, he had shared that he had tested negative but would still be in isolation for one more week as an extra precaution.
