      Default █ ►ANDROID KUNJAPPAN V5.25◄ █ - My Review

      Date : 15.11.2019
Theatre : Grand Cinemas, Screen 2
Place : Safeer Mall, Abu Dhabi
      Time : 1pm
      Status : 25-30 ppl

First of all a big thanks to my wife who pushed to go for this movie. I have to be honest here, I have not seen the trailer or the posters of this movie till I reached the theater to collect the tickets. Little did I realize that I am going to enjoy a wonderfully executed concept movie.

We have heard many times about Robots going to replace human beings as they becomes more and more intelligent and can do whatever (well..almost ) humans do. Now imagine such a robot coming as a home nurse to take care of a 70 something old Bhaskaran (Suraj) who is completely unaware of the latest technologies (not even FB) in a village. Left with no other option than living with the robot after his son (Soubin) returns back to Russia to continue his job, the film narrates the bonding between Bhaskaran and the robot (and my word such a cute robot ). The film is thoroughly entertaining as we giggles along with the sequences between Bhaskaran and the robot.

But there is a catch in this, the film's opening scene shows a similar robot killing its owner when it gets angered by the owner, and the company who manufactured these robots (where Soubin works) is having big issues with 4 of the 6 robots in the testing phase malfunctioning and ends up and a threat to the owner. Will the one with Bhaskaran also follow suit? Will Bhaskaran who later is obsessed with the Robot (even more than his own son) will let it be taken away from him...? Will his son be able to detach him from the Robot who by this time is fondly known as Kunjappan to all the villagers. These all forms the climax portions.

Director / writer Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval deserves a pat on the back for coming up with a thread like this and more importantly executing it with finesse. Technical side also scores with excellent photography of the Russia scenes and the village. BGM and songs are apt for the situations.

Coming to performance, Suraj once again hits it out of the park with the portrayal of Bhaskaran. He just owns the show. Soubin as his son does a good job. Kendy Zirdo as the Japanese - Indian girl is also good. Supporting cast consisting of the ever dependent Saiju Kurup and few artists from 'Thondimuthalum Driksaskshiyum' evokes good laughter.

Overall it is a wonderfully executed concept movie which can be enjoyed by everyone especially children.

      My rating :- 4/5
