      seems like many filmmakers in Tamil and Malayalam are falling into this cliche of 'humanising' the villains. Ratsasan had the same issue too.
      just follow what Nolan did with the Joker in Dark Knight...make him a badass with no past or redeeming angle.
      yup for sure... a despicable villain witha sketchy past is the most effective framing device... thats part of the charm of characters like joker in dark knight like you mentioned, hannibal lecter in 'silence of the lambs' or the terrifying anton chigurh from 'no country for old men'...
      although, i believe ratchasan il even though a quasi justifiable backstory was given to the villain, that 'monster' persona and dread about the character wasnt completely absent till the end which was effective... whereas AP il complete punchum aa flashback kazinjapo poyi...

I saw these critics mentioning Rakshasan, Memories (agreed that they had better theater experience with visuals and sound) but still GM was that movie which restarted the trend in Malayalam. Villain followed it but went through another direction which was more drama than thriller.
      the first thing that came to mind was Villain actually...weak characterisation and back story of Vishal...

      To those who saw the movie;

      Why did that guy went onto buy the 6th statue?

      Isnt it a bit stupid or rather implausible to build fire in a jail, then bring another body into it and police just accepts that its the body of the psycho manju without spending much time?

      1. Why did that guy buy statue 6?
      2. How did the drugs enter the body of all victims?
      3. Why did the killer choose a particular sequence for his intended victims?
      4. How did the killer track his last victim without the aid of the hacker?
      5. The killer says that his revenge is personal and that he is not like any other psychopath. He then goes to behave like a typical psychopath

      1) No Idea
      2) No Idea
      3) The first 3 were done by the psycho duo...they wanted to kill people for fun...the 4th and 5th were his. So they chose police officers just like that and thus avoided a pattern.
      4) I believe the killer already learnt from the system set by the hacker. Its shown in a brief scene where he was sitting in front of the system.
      5) He is a Psycho who lacks principles ...who killed 3 police officers to cover up his motive!! (Then why the F did he chose police officers...they could have killed any random people and reached to police officers and thus make the design more complicated...but yeah!! its a cinema)

      3. If victims 4 and 5 were the only intended ones, why include the other psycho through the charade in the metro station.
