You are right. To make a 2.30 hrs + movie engaging without songs, action, romance, comedies, a very commendable job indeed. But I would have loved to see an older version of Iyer.

Let me try and figure out Iyer's age

In CBI Diarykurippu, he was shown talking to his son over telephone while Urvashi and Bahadur is in the office, from the nature of conversation I am guessing the son is 5-6 years old. So Iyer must be around 32-33 I suppose? And Devadas seems to be in the same age group of Iyer more or less.

In Sethuramaiyer CBI, we see Sathyadas, the son of Devadas is already a DySP, so i am assuming he is atleast 30? So if Iyer and Devadas had sons with similar age then Iyer was around or over 55 in that movie. But they did not make him look that age. I am assuming CBI 5 happened after 8-9 years after Sethuramaiyer CBI since Renji Panicker was narrating the plot that happened in 2011 or 12 if I remember correctly. So Iyer should be actually a 63-64 year old in CBI 5.

Logically Sethu should retire from CBI service. Iyer is clearly mid 30s in Jagratha which is 1989. Add 30+ years. He is clearly above 60. But I am not sure whether they give special position for such brilliant heads in the office post retirement.

I am ready to watch another CBI from this team but the possibility is low. They can't make another one immediately which will not work IMO unless a miracle takes place. Iyer should never be part of bloody serial murders which disturbs a section of audience.

I am not a purist but CBI 5 is a welcome relief from current trend of thrillers!!!


Meanwhile K Madhu has hinted that Ali Imran may comeback. Now Mohanlal in this condition, handling a role during his 20s....is a big NO NO!!!! And Moonam Mura is not investigation movie and the character is more physical than Iyer. I am not saying Mohanlal cannot do his stunts but he is not in 20s!!! I hope K Madhu realize this.

Well, K. Madhu says CBI 6 will come when he visited Jagathy Sreekumar couple of days back. And CBI 5 ending shows the prospect of another movie with Vikram also joining after regaining full health....so you never know....

Jagathyude scene was emotional....The theater applauded eventhough it was full of family (Only Mammotty's intro got the other applause). S N Swamyude brilliance aanu aa scene!!!

Sorry to say...Jagathy in that condition looked more effective than Soubin Shahir

Thats part of such movies. You will have loads of characters which can be added into suspect list like Sudev Nair, Dileesh Pothen etc.
