Aamir Khan on his 54th birthday announced that he will be remaking the Oscar-winning Hollywood film Forrest Gump. Titled Laal Singh Chadha, the film will be helmed by Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan.
At his birthday celebration, the superstar had shared, “I have an announcement for my fans and media. I have finalised my next film and it is titled Laal Singh Chadha. It is a remake of American film Forrest Gump. It is being made by Viacom 18 and Aamir Khan Productions. Advait Chandan will direct it. We have bought the rights from Paramount Pictures.”
Aamir Khan added that he has been trying to get the rights of Forrest Gump adaptation for the last 8 years. Laal Singh Chaddha will be shot in North India. "We are still on a recce for it, but it will be in India, Punjab, all the North side," Aamir revealed.
Aamir Khan said that actor Atul Kulkarni shared the idea of Forest Gump adaptation during the shooting of Rang De Basanti. "During the shoot, he had shared that the Forest Gump is one of his favourite movies. Atul approached me with adaptation script later on but I did not take him seriously. I read the script after 2 and a half years and loved it. After that, I went behind taking the right of the movie," added Aamir Khan.
